“We know when we step on the field that it’s going to be an intense game,” said FC Cincinnati Head Coach Pat Noonan speaking ahead of Saturday’s match. Jimenez will be vital on Saturday as TFC look to win their fourth match in a row at home. The Reds have yet to keep a clean sheet this season. With Ayo Akinola back from his ACL injury, Toronto now have two very capable strikers within their ranks. “I want the guys to feel good about that.” His ability to act as a reference point for the midfield and wingbacks has made TFC a very interesting attacking outfit.

Jimenez cut the lead to 2-1 in the 65th minute as Toronto pressed. Toronto lost defender Chris Mavinga in the 29th minute with the French-born Congolese international favouring a leg. With Dominique Badji occupying several Toronto defenders, the ball landed at the feet of an unmarked Acosta whose shot beat Bono to the corner. The ensuing corner went deep to Cincinnati's Junior Moreno, who drove it back into the box. The Nigerian midfielder arrived this week from Turkey's Goztepe SK. It's a little bit too crazy the way we're trying to get the next goal. The play started when Mexican centre back Carlos Salcedo's attempted pass to goalkeeper Alex Bono squibbed out of play. "(We had) a push late in the game. TFC has yet to keep a clean sheet this season. "The tempo was too slow which played into Cincinnati's game plan. The teams meet again Wednesday on "Star Wars Night" at Cincinnati's TQL Stadium. Its last league shutout was 18 games ago — a 0-0 draw at Colorado last September.

Toronto FC dropped a 2-1 decision to MLS Eastern Conference bottom-feeders FC Cincinnati at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Toronto defenders, including Salcedo, looked lost as Acosta received the ball in the box and right-footed it into the goal for the 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Cincy’s goal came in the 44th minute after a terrible corner kick giveaway by Salcedo, a Designated Player who came into Toronto with a big reputation but has been very inconsistent. All in all, Akinola said he felt good. But, again, failing to play hard from the start buried the Reds. Article content Article content
