Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner of The Carsey-Werner Company, who executive produced the original show, will also executive produce the followup. “That ’70s Show” debuted on Fox in 1998, running for eight seasons and 200 episodes. Specifically, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Wilmer Valderrama have all reportedly signed deals to appear on the streaming service-set sequel, reuniting them with fellow ’70s castmates Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, who were already part of the cast. The deals reunite a cast that’s had a fairly enormous amount of success, collectively, with their post-’70s careers; Grace currently stars in Home Economics on ABC, Prepon had a long run on Orange Is the New Black, Valderrama is an NCIS stalwart, and married couple Kutcher and Kunis have both had successful runs in both film and TV. And now they’re all coming back to Point Place, Wisconsin, for the second attempted sequel or spin-off of the That ’_0s Show franchise, after the single-season That ’80s Show, whose entire run was eclipsed by that of its parent show back in 2002. Masterson has denied the allegations, but Netflix cut ties with him in 2017, firing him from his sitcom The Ranch at the time.

The original series may have ended in 2006, but it has lived on through reruns thanks to the wonderful chemistry of its great cast and the hilarious writing. The original That 70s Show was this carefree and fun comedy that lovingly captured the spirit of its era and its infectious cast made every episode just a delight to watch. This news while exciting, is not terribly surprising, as this new series will follow Callie Haverda’s Leia Foreman who is the daughter of Eric and Donna. The story will see Leia visiting her grandparents for the summer as she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids.

That 90s Show will no doubt pull in viewers, who now have even more incentive to see how Eric, Donna, Jackie, Kelso, and Fez have grown up (not to mention more of Red and Kitty). With so much love existing for these characters and the desire to return to a place that supplied years and years of entertainment, That 90s Show has a great head start in recapturing the magic of That 70s Show, as well as introducing a whole new generation to it.
