Flyers' momentum killed in 3-1 loss to Chicago Blackhawks (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

After an inspiring win only one game ago, the Flyers reverted to form with a loss against Chicago.

Laughton carried it into the offensive zone and made a move as if he were going to shoot before sending quick pass to Hayes, who put it in before goalie Kevin Lankinen could move from left to right. However, they then took a Flyers offensive push and turned it into their third goal of the night, scored by Alex Debrincat. Several were shots on rebounds, created by their battle for position in the blue paint. There was parts of our game where we were doing OK, but we weren’t good enough with the puck tonight against a team that transitions really well.” But just like they have in recent games, the Flyers kept fighting, and Kevin Hayes got one back two minutes later. The Blackhawks rode momentum from a penalty kill to their second goal, which was scored by Jonathan Toews on their own power play.

10 observations: Blackhawks beat Flyers for first regulation win ... (NBC Sports Chicago)

The Blackhawks knocked off the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 at the United Center on Monday. Here are 10 observations from the win.

4. Alex DeBrincat scored his 41st goal of the season to tie a career-high and set a new career-high with his 77th point. 9. We saw good Erik Gustafsson and we saw bad Erik Gustafsson. He opened the scoring for Chicago with his third goal of the season thanks to a 51-foot shot from the point then two shifts later, he turned the puck over in the offensive zone which led to a 2-on-1 chance for the Flyers, who scored to cut their deficit to 2-1. 5. Jonathan Toews is on a quiet little heater as we approach the final two games of the season. The two wins in their previous 13 games came in overtime and a shootout. He made three saves from high-danger areas in a three-second span during the first period, and then made a breakaway stop on Scott Laughton with 1:58 left that kept Chicago's lead at 2-1. He finished with 33 saves on 34 shots for a save percentage of .969. Nice confidence builder for him.

DeBrincat, Lankinen help Blackhawks top Flyers (TSN)

CHICAGO (AP) — Alex DeBrincat scored his 41st goal in the third period and Kevin Lankinen made 33 saves, helping the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 on Monday night in a matchup of disappointing teams.

Murphy and Dach skated with the team on Monday morning. The Masterton award is presented to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. Blackhawks defenseman Jake McCabe was sent off for tripping with 1:23 left, and Philadelphia's Bobby Brink shot the puck off the inside of the right post. “I thought we had a lot of looks," Hayes said. Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist as Chicago (27-42-11) won for just the fifth time in its last 20 games. The captain missed all of last year with what he described as chronic immune response syndrome.

Flyers vs. Blackhawks: What TV channel is Monday's game on, how ... (DraftKings Nation)

We go over how you can all you need to know on Monday's NHL matchup between the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks.

Philadelphia showed plenty of fight against the Penguins on Sunday, but the Blackhawks have the better team and are catching the Flyers on the second leg of a back-to-back. Chicago (26-42-11) is fifth in the NHL Draft Lottery. The Blackhawks lost their final two on a three-game road swing and are 2-7-1 over the past ten games. With both teams in the draft lottery, there isn’t a sense of urgency on either side. Philadelphia is going with a youth movement in the final games of the season. Kane and Toews helped the Blackhawks win three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, 2015) during a five-year stretch. Philadelphia (25-43-11) is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and currently sits 4th in the NHL Draft lottery.

Blackhawks vs. Flyers, NHL April 25, 2022: Preview, how to watch ... (Second City Hockey)

There's only one game on the NHL schedule for Monday night — and this is it.

One lineup change from Saturday’s game was noted by coach Derek King: But even their positive moments have been outshined by the overall drudgery of the season — exacerbated by a slew of injuries. What his future holds in Philadelphia will likely be a substantial indicator for what the future holds for the fortunes of the entire franchise. Speaking of injuries, No. 1 goaltender Carter Hart has not played since April 12 and is not expected to play again this season. Veterans Cam Atkinson (23 G, 27 A) and James van Riemsdyk (23 G, 14 A) are also top contributors while 22-year-old Joel Farabee (17 G, 17 A) is making his case to be part of the team going forward. Philadelphia was 13-12-6 at the start of this calendar year.

Down and Out: The future of the Chicago Blackhawks (Daily Faceoff)

Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discussed the Chicago Blackhawks and what me might expect to see from them this summer.

You mentioned Patrick Kane. There’s the lack of draft picks, and there’s the need for them to have difference-makers. Well, Patrick Kane is a difference-maker, but Patrick Kane could get them a lot of draft picks, and he’s only got one year left on that deal at $10.5 million. I think the big question for me is “Who are the guys that are going to be the pillars for the future?” You thought back to the Blackhawks and their Stanley Cup run, and they had their pillars at every position. You take a look at this board here, they don’t have a first-round pick this year, of course from the Seth Jones trade going back a year. Frank Seravalli: I hope Kyle Davidson, their new general manager, brings a shovel with him, because they’ve got a lot of digging to do in terms of getting out from the spot that they’re in. That should be their No. 1 goal and target: how do we find a way to get and acquire and accumulate enough difference-makers in their lineup?

Alex DeBrincat ponders his future with the Chicago Blackhawks ... (Chicago Tribune)

The losing gets frustrating, DeBrincat said, “but you’ve got to work for what you get. I want to help bring this team to the playoffs and win. So hopefully we can work these next couple years, get a good roster and win some games. I’m here to do whatever I can and obviously try to help win games. “This offseason, I just want to work on everything,” DeBrincat said. I’ll take a couple days after the season to reflect and see what I need to work on.”

Alex DeBrincat Sounds Open to Sticking Around for the Blackhawks ... (bleachernation.com)

It's been a trying season for the Chicago Blackhawks, and no one knows that as well as Alex DeBrincat. A D V E R T I S E M E N T. If he can stay healthy for ...

If DeBrincat stays, he’ll be the cornerstone of this franchise for the foreseeable future and possibly even the next to wear the “C” when Jonathan Toews relinquishes the captaincy he’s held for the last 14 years. The more likely scenario is that Kyle Davidson has a sit down with DeBrincat to lay out his vision for the rebuild (one he will have to have with guys like Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews) and determine whether or not DeBrincat wants to sign a long-term deal with the Blackhawks. DeBrincat told reporters that he’s “open to anything.” And went on to say: “we’ll see what they’re thinking. If he can stay healthy for just one more week, DeBrincat will be the only player on the Blackhawks roster to play in all 82 games this season. I would imagine that opening his NHL career by making one bubble postseason and nothing else wasn’t what he pictured when the Blackhawks called his name in Buffalo. Which brings the question, how much longer does DeBrincat want to spend missing the postseason? … These next couple years, we can build that identity to get back to where we want to be, and hopefully, it’s sooner than later.”

For two more games, however, fans will have a couple of more chances to see the guys before the craziness of the NHL offseason. Not many Blackhawks players have a lot to feel good about but these two should feel excellent. As mentioned before, that proved to be the final score of the contest. It was also really nice to see Patrick Kane make a really nice pass to Alex DeBrincat who would not miss the one-time slapper. He then scored his 12th of the season later in the period which gave Chicago a 2-0 lead. There was a lot to deal with but this dreadful season is finally to an end.
