The 38th edition of The Vancouver Sun Run is back with an in-person race on Sunday, April 24. Check back for news and photos from the day.

SkyTrain will start service on the Expo/Millennium Lines half an hour earlier than normal, with the first train leaving King George at 6:38 a.m., Lafarge Lake-Douglas at 6:26 a.m., and Waterfront at 7:20 a.m. SkyTrain will operate “rush hour” level service during the time prior to the start and into the afternoon, as crowds head home. The race day weather forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud, with 30 per cent chance of showers late this afternoon. More than 20000 people signed up for the full 10 kilometre circuit and the shorter mini Sun Run, with organizers rolling out a new route this year.
“We’re going to do our wave starts here, have people separated out, lots of room at the start line, lots of room at the finish, lots of room at BC Place stadium,” he said. Last year’s event was virtual only, and while the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over, Hopkins said organizers had taken steps to ensure safety. Race director Tim Hopkins said the event was on track to be the largest running event in Canada this year.

In 2021 organizers held the event virtually with participants running the distance mostly on their own over a set period of time. "It's good to see all these people turn out, I was running during the pandemic, but it was an alone thing," said runner Brian Wu from the finish line.
