In what has to be one of the least interesting 6-3 games ever played in the history of the National Hockey League, the Flyers beat the Canadiens 6-3. - And that’ll end the competitive portion of this game. - The period begins with the Habs failing to score on their power play. - Two players on the opposing teams who wore the same number got called for the same penalty at the same time. - But the Flyers will get a power play, courtesy of a nice burst from Owen Tippett. Which of course means that within the first 30 seconds of said power play, the Canadiens get two odd-man rushes. The teams head to the first locker room with the Flyers up 1-0. - Boy, there is just ... nothing going on in this game. Carey Price mishandles the puck behind the net, and JVR is able to beat him on a second chance as he fails to seal the post. Which explains why the Flyers didn’t. And that’s a mistake by the officials.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) https://t.co/ojq5cVe7a4 April 22, 2022 The Flyers’ bench looks incredibly confused, guess we’ll find out if Yeo tried to challenge and couldn’t or what. Were this a game that mattered and had it led to a Flyers loss, this recap would probably just be an extended riot full of torches and pitchforks. - First several minutes definitely look like a game between two teams that have each lost six straight games.

Brendan Gallagher made a hand pass to Mike Hoffman in the slot who tapped in Montreal's first goal at 15:31. "I've been on teams where you just give up and just look forward to next year but I think that there are still things that we can improve on," Petry said. Price made 28 saves but the Canadiens (20-46-11) are still 0-3-0 since the star netminder returned from a long absence.

The Habs have been held to two or fewer goals in four of the last five games, including a pair of shutout losses at home. However, Caufield is pointless over the last five games after a four-game goal scoring streak. Atkinson has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury. He's since gotten back on track, especially since the coaching change in Montreal from Dom Ducharme to St. Louis. Nick Suzuki leads the Canadiens with 20 goals, 37 assists and 57 points this season. James van Riemsdyk (21st goal of the season) and rookie defenseman Ronnie Attard (2nd) scored in a losing cause. The Canadiens have also lost six games in a row in regulation. The National Hockey League officially started recording team power play and penalty killing statistics in the 1977-78 season. However, there seems to be a distinct possibility that the team will alternate starters in upcoming games. In the meantime, 35-year-old veteran Keith Yandle has recently been pressed back into every-game service as a starter after his NHL record 989-game ironman streak ended and he was scratched in a combined five games. Rookie defenseman Cam York is dealing with a lower-body injury and is officially on day-to-day status. On Dec. 16 at the Bell Centre, Laurent Dauphin tied the game with 5:39 remaining in the third period.

The Habs and the Flyers are two of the teams at the bottom of the heap, but it was Philadelphia who came out on top as the days tick down for the Canadiens.
This is essentially a seven in 10 chance for Montreal to draft lower than the actual position attained. What fans are not aware of when they consider the exciting possibility that Montreal will draft first is that is not likely to happen at all. If the Canadiens want a centre, they’re going to get one. All in all, the changes reward the poor teams to draft higher. The NHL made some rule changes to the draft lottery last March that will be implemented for the first time in 2022. The recent new rules are that a club cannot drop more than two places from their finishing position, and any club that wins the lottery cannot leap more than 10 spots. This would have resulted in a call of no goal for the Canadiens. They had a long conversation, and you could see Furlatt say that Yeo was not allowed to challenge the call. It appears that Marc Bergevin got this three-year contract right for Evans that kicks in at the end of this season. Yeo spoke to the official Eric Furlatt right after the goal. It’s been thought that Evans was a fourth-line centre, but he might just be a solid third-line centre in the end. It appears the officials don’t always even know the rules of the league.

It was all-too-familiar, and a perfect reminder of how the Canadiens put themselves in a position to potentially secure the best odds at drafting first overall — in Montreal — this summer. “They said there's a mistake that happened,” he said, “and you know, obviously, I think the big thing for us is we didn't let that derail us. Hoffman scored into a wide-open net from the top of the crease to make it 2-1 Flyers, breaking a career-worst 21-game goal drought, and then he and Gallagher played the whole thing like they just got away with robbing a bank in broad daylight. He, partner Chris Wideman and the line of Hoffman, Gallagher and Christian Dvorak all (deservedly) finished minus-three. But I understand the frustration, I’ve been there." How you deal with adversity, whether it's game to game or in the course of the game, and I thought that our guys did a good job with that tonight.”
