"Jordan Poole is like a baby Stephen Curry!": Warriors' Klay ... (The Sportsrush)

Warriors star Klay Thompson praises Jordan Poole for his incredible growth and performances, Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry pile on as well.

Jordan Poole is destined for greatness, and the Warriors’ veterans are going to make sure he gets there. After the game tonight, Steve Kerr talked about how he saw flashes of Steph in Jordan’s game. Recently, the list of finalists for the Most Improved Player was announced, and Jordan Poole’s name was not on it. His work is not going unnoticed, as he earned big praise from his teammates and coach. Poole dropped a 30-point performance for his playoff debut and followed up the same with 29 points last night. As one says, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and the same was the case between the Warriors and the postseason.

There was a point when the Nuggets were up 13 in the 2nd quarter. Stephen Curry Says He Will Never Allow Jordan Poole To Take The ... (Fadeaway World)

The Golden State Warriors had a great performance last night, as they dismantled the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Curry joked that he would never allow Poole to take them, even if he missed 10 technical free throws in a game. One reporter asked Curry what it would take for him to allow his teammate Jordan Poole to take the technical free throws, considering how Curry missed them during the game. One notable thing from the game was Curry missing multiple technical free throws, a rarity considering Curry's shooting numbers.

Jordan Poole Goes Off...Again (CalBearsMaven)

It sure has been fun watching the former Wolverine go off on the NBA's biggest stage and it's going to be a lot of fun for Poole when he sits down to sign his contract extension. With Curry coming back from an ankle injury and on a bit of a minutes restriction, Poole has gotten the start in the Warriors first two playoff games and they're up 2-0 against the Denver Nuggets. Curry himself went off for 34 points last night in just 23 minutes of action so he won't be coming off the bench for long. That might actually be an even bigger issue for the Nuggets then if Poole was in the starting lineup. Poole was in the G-League last year and is now a regular contributor and sometimes-starter for one of the league's most explosive teams. Amazingly, the duo has now become a trio with the emergence of Poole. Poole has become a bonafide scorer in the NBA and he's a major reason why NBA analysts now think the Golden State Warriors have a real shot at winning the title this year.

Is Jordan Poole Playing His Way Into a $100M Offseason? (Front Office Sports)

Jordan Poole is the 11th-highest-paid player on the Warriors, but he's in for a big extension this upcoming summer.

But Poole could make that a moot point with a prolific rest of the postseason — and maybe become a $100 million man. The 22-year-old is rumored to be seeking $80 million over four years, but one pundit noted earlier this season that his price tag could increase well above $100 million “if he explodes in the playoffs.” After blowing out the Nuggets in Game 2, Golden State’s Draymond Green vowed to start a petition if Jordan Poole doesn’t win Most Improved Player of the Year.

“Ultimately, we have to have Steph Curry in the lineup,” Green said. Or guys stay home (on us) and he has all the room in the world to make plays.” Meanwhile, both have the goods to punish defenses. Steph Curry is the greatest Sixth Man ever in the Playoffs. They bring a guy off the bench like that, 34 points, five threes . . . and then Klay Thompson.” We're not trying to keep Steph in the Sixth-Man role. There is little doubt that Poole and Curry will start together. His 11 points in six second-quarter minutes, during which the Warriors outscored Denver 22-8, brought the hammer to the festivities. Both are combo guards, capable of scoring in bunches, with enough trickery in their offensive games to cross the eyes and wires of any defense. Add Klay Thompson as a sniper on the wing, and it can be overwhelming. And for teams to make those decisions on the fly, it's difficult especially when we are playing fast. He's incredibly humble and incredibly arrogant on the floor. Humble off the floor, arrogant on the floor.

The Third Splash Brother Has Arrived (Sports Illustrated)

Inside look at Jordan Poole's emergence in the NBA playoffs. Plus, how the Timberwolves and Grizzlies are playing by their own rules.

But even if he doesn’t return, Dallas may have found Utah’s kryptonite, and that may be enough to make this a series with or without the superstar point guard. (To be fair, we’ve also seen it toward the end of a few Utah collapses this season, when Gobert and the Jazz didn’t contest the perimeter after a switch. Utah has been a sieve on the perimeter all year, but Monday was especially shameful, considering how big it would have been to take a 2–0 lead on a team that could get its perennial MVP candidate back in the lineup in the coming days. It looked exactly the same as last year’s Western Conference semifinal series against the Clippers, in which Los Angeles repeatedly goaded Gobert out of position to be able to make a quick pass to a wide-open shooter along the arc. The man is going to make a lot of money this summer. When it comes to breaking the conventional rules, Minnesota did that most in Game 1, beating the grit and grind originators at their own game and on their home floor. But whether Adams is in the rotation plenty or not, rest assured: There should be plenty of shotmaking, loose-ball scrambles and mean mugging to go around either way. But even though Memphis got outworked on the boards, don’t be surprised if we see Steven Adams for a shorter amount of time than his 24 minutes in the last contest. As The Athletic’s Fred Katz laid out, Minnesota—one of the NBA’s worst defensive rebounding clubs—won the rebounding battle and managed to limit its live-ball turnovers to just three in Game 1 despite Memphis being the best squad at forcing those sorts of miscues. Poole, a fantastic passer and shooter, is still on a rookie deal rather than a max one (though he’s eligible for an extension this summer). He also has one of Curry’s best tendencies in the sense that he moves extremely well without the ball, leaving defenses uneasy and confused about where he’ll be on the court at any given moment. It’s a shame that Game 2 of perhaps the most fascinating first-round matchup will be showcased on NBA TV, where fewer folks will see it. It was perhaps the clearest sign that he was back to being Steph again.

Milwaukee's Jordan Poole taking a star turn in the NBA playoffs for ... (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

Jordan Poole, the Milwaukee native who has steadily increased his role with the Golden State Warriors, is on another level in the NBA playoffs.

Poole came off the bench in 2014 for state-qualifying Rufus King, a squad that lost to eventual state champion Germantown in the semifinals. Poole finished his third season in the league with 76 games played and 18.5 points per game, with 4.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds. The Wolverines then made it all the way to the championship game, where they lost to future Bucks draft pick Donte DiVincenzo and Villanova. With Curry coming off the bench on his way back from a foot injury, Poole has remained in the starting lineup, and he shot 9 of 13 from the field with five three-pointers in that game. "On nights like Monday, when the Big 3 are rolling, Poole going for 29 of his own points, throwing 3-point darts from all over the court and smoking defenders off the dribble, becomes an embarrassment of riches, and the Warriors might be unbeatable," Botkin wrote. The 6-4 shooting guard added five rebounds and eight assists while hitting half of his 3-point attempts (5 of 10).

"Jordan is doing some of the same stuff Steph does, and that's tough," Green said Monday night after the Warriors' 126-106 win. Poole's performance has been so impressive that he has coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green comparing him to the man he has studied under for three seasons -- Steph Curry.

Now the series will take a quick break as the Warriors travel to Denver, where the Nuggets will try to take care of their home-court advantage and even the series. So far, the Warriors entirely have their opponent’s number, and the Nuggets look like they’re in a ton of trouble. Golden State won both games by double-digits, and whenever Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole share the court, the Dubs are unstoppable.

Jordan Poole is a budding star and that's going to create a "great problem" for Steve Kerr and the Warriors to ponder in the playoffs.

The Warriors know Poole is one of the most vital pieces to their title hopes. Added Green: "Jordan is doing some of the same stuff Steph does, and that's tough. He has been watching Steph a lot, and he's doing his best impression, and it is incredible." "It's pretty remarkable to see the similarities now with both the on- and off-ball stuff. Steph Curry is the embodiment of that. “Ultimately, we have to have Steph Curry in the [starting] lineup," Draymond Green said Monday after the win. Poole said Monday that he took it upon himself to watch clips of Curry to help expand his own game. In two games against the Nuggets, Poole has scored 59 points on just 29 shots. The third-year guard blistered Denver for 30 in Game 1 and came back Monday with a 29-piece in Game 2. We're not trying to keep Steph in the Sixth Man role. "But at some point, I’m sure they are both going to be starting together. Poole's explosion has come with Steph Curry coming off the bench as he works his way back from a sprained ligament and bone bruise in his left foot.
