"FBI: Most Wanted" has finally replaced Julian McMahon, with Dylan McDermott joining the series as an agent with a tragic backstory.
Hudgins teased: "I will say that the story with Remy and his brother, [as well as] an upcoming episode with his mother, that there's more to that story that informs Remy. There's also some interaction with other team members that deepens the relationship as they all get to know each other. So he's on a journey, and I love playing that, to have that in my toolbox every time I go out and do a case." Per Hudgins, the story of Scott's family continues to play out over the next few episodes. He's on a quest, and there's a dynamic inside of him that he's trying to figure out; his own psychology. As he introduced himself on the CBS show, Special Agent Remy Scott is a 23-year veteran of the FBI, whose recent roles included the Fugitive Task Force and the Philadelphia Violent Crimes division. It fuels me as an actor when I have that."
Dylan McDermott joined the 'FBI: Most Wanted' cast. Here's where fans have seen the actor before, including 'Law & Order' and 'AHS.'
Unfortunately for Law & Order fans, McDermott left the show. CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted Season 3 recently brought Dylan McDermott onboard, and fans can’t wait to see what the actor will do with his new character, Remy Scott, as part of the FBI: Most Wanted cast moving forward. McDermott also appeared on the Hulu series American Horror Stories as Ben Harmon. McDermott spoke to TV Insider about the role, too. [He has a] cheeky sensibility and good sense of humor.” McDermott is no stranger to police procedurals, as he also starred in Law & Order: Organized Crime. But what else has the actor starred in?

And I relish in it because I think it’s amazing that people actually believe that’s the character that I play, I’m him.” For many fans, it’s been hard to try wrapping their heads around the idea of McDermott jumping from one Dick Wolf franchise to another in such a short window of time. Viewers have vocally expressed concerns with McDermott going from playing a character who is one of the best bad guys on-screen in the Law and Order franchise to playing one of the good guys in the FBI franchise, and McDermott has been paying attention.
Dylan McDermott made his FBI: Most Wanted Debut as Remy Scott, and the actor and showrunner David Hudgins broke the episode down.
McDermott’s comments echo what the showrunner said about how Remy compares to Jess LaCroix as a leader, and all signs point toward a “quest” that should be intriguing to watch over the remaining episodes of Season 3. Long ago, his brother was murdered after local law enforcement fell short on their investigation, and that motivated Remy to become an agent and do everything in his power to prevent the same kinds of tragedies for others. FBI: Most Wanted sent the Task Force on the trail of some murders that initially seemed simply tied to a forbidden love between a teen and an older man, but the plot thickened and proved that the real villain was hiding in plain sight.
Dylan McDermott and "FBI Most Wanted" showrunner David Hudgins break down the introduction of new team leader Remy Scott and his dark past.
McDermott explained that he found it “important” that Remy have a specific reason to be doing what he’s doing. In getting to know Remy Scott, FBI: Most Wanted viewers were also given a bit to chew on by way of the scene that preceded the Mikey story. “Every bad guy I catch, I do it for [Mikey],” Remy avowed. Speaking with the press last week about his character’s tragic share, McDermott said, “I love that scene. Remy freely shared that his brother Mikey, the baby of the family and a “shining star” on track for a baseball scholarship at Syracuse, went to Florida for spring break as a senior and went missing after a night at a bar. At episode’s end, as the team kicked back at one of those axe-throwing places, Hana invited the team’s new leader to expound on that bit of his past.

This is the craziest thing you could possibly do — in a bar. The devastated team is checking him out, and he’s sizing them up as well. Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott ( Dylan McDermott, above) replaces Jess LaCroix ( Julian McMahon, who exited the show voluntarily in March), tragically killed on the job and now sorely missed.
After playing a villain on Law & Order: Organized Crime, Dylan McDermott knew it was time to play someone good again so he joined FBI: Most Wanted.
How did Julian McMahon's Jess LaCroix die on 'FBI: Most Wanted'? Find out how Jess was killed off during Season 3 of the CBS crime drama.
Jess LaCroix may have been beloved by FBI: Most Wanted fans, but actor Julian McMahon was ready to move on from the character. Unfortunately, hospital parking lots don't provide much cover, so the suspect was able to emerge undetected and shoot Jess in the neck. But how exactly was Jess LaCroix killed, and what was the story behind the character's demise? Nathaniel Arcand, who played Jess' teammate and brother-in-law Clinton Skye, had already exited. Not only that, but he was killing anyone who might possibly have any connection to her. It was up to Jess and company to stop the stalker before he added to his body count or found his terrified ex.
Is Roxy Sternberg leaving FBI: Most Wanted? If you are wondering about that, or the whereabouts of Sheryll Barnes, we are happy to help.
While she is away, we imagine that the writers are going to focus more on what is directly in front of us. Even if Barnes is not back at work this season, we do still have all of the confidence in the world that she will return for season 4 — provided, of course, that Most Wanted gets renewed. New boss Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott) confirmed near the start of the episode tonight that Barnes is still on maternity leave.

Admittedly, we've had a good bit of time now to better process the exit of the actor and the death of Jess LaCroix and on one level, all of it does still feel ...
We’ll miss him, but of course we’re hoping that there is some great stuff coming for Remy as we get to know him over time. That means viewers have a few weeks to get used to him this year and hopefully by a potential season 4, they are already invested. We are talking here, after all, about losing someone who was a big part of the show for the past few years; while we do see actors come and go on shows, it rarely ever happens so early in their run, let alone in the middle of the season.
