NBA Trade Rumors: Indiana Pacers could be landing spot for ... (Sir Charles In Charge)

NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Indiana Pacers could emerge as a potential landing spot for Russell Westbrook.

However, according to a recent report, one potential landing spot for Russ could be the Indiana Pacers. Where it does make sense is if this is just an acquire and buyout move – if that’s something Russ would actually be interested in. To say that the Russell Westbrook experiment in Los Angeles didn’t go as expected would be a massive understatement.

It’s a long offseason, there’s plenty of recruiting to be done, wine to be shared and the guard says he and James still have a great relationship off the court. The Lakers have an absolute mess on their hands. Considering the club didn’t make the postseason this year, we can safely say they are firmly in the camp of the former.

Report: Pacers Emerge as Potential Suitor in Russell Westbrook Trade (Sports Illustrated)

It's no secret roster changes are coming to Los Angeles this offseason.

If the Pacers plan to shed future salary, could a deal for Westbrook be a match? One area of the roster that the Lakers are expected to review is point guard, where the Russell Westbook experiment was by-and-large a failure. If the Lakers were to move Westbrook and his $47 million player option that he is expected to pick up, the Pacers could emerge as a suitor, according to a new report from The Athletic.

RUMORS: Indiana Pacers Named Potential Trade Destination For ... (Sports Illustrated)

Just one day after finishing the 2021-22 regular season, the Indiana Pacers have been linked to Russell Westbrook in a potential offseason trade.

Should Indiana make Brogdon available in trade talks, there will be multiple teams showing interest in him as a veteran guard that can play on- or off-the-ball. However, trading away Hield and Brogdon to the Lakers for Westbrook and a future first-round pick does not seem to make much sense for the Indiana Pacers as a whole, especially given their stance on not wanting to rebuild. Heading into the offseason, the Pacers will be faced with some challenges in terms of building around Tyrese Haliburton and a recent report suggests that Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook could be on their monitor.

Lakers: Russell Westbrook calls out LeBron James, Anthony Davis ... (ClutchPoints)

Russell Westbrook wasn't shy about calling out Lakers teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis during his exit interview.

Does Westbrook even want to stay in Los Angeles? If they wanted to, can the Lakers even find a way to trade Russ and the $47.1 million he’s guaranteed next season? Reports suggest that prior to trading for Russ, the Lakers—or at least team general manager Rob Pelinka—were set on bringing Buddy Hield to Hollywood. This was before LeBron and Davis met with Westbrook to discuss his potential role with the 2020 champions. More importantly, though, what type of effect will this have—if any—on Russ’ future with the Lakers? Did he just burn a bridge here or does he find a way to get back from this one? Westbrook is disputing the notion that LeBron and Davis gave him the leeway to play his game. There were times and spurts, but I was just trying to find my way honestly." To say that Russell Westbrook’s exit interview on Monday was controversial would be an understatement.

His issues with Vogel are well-documented, as Westbrook publicly grumbled about being benched for fourth quarters by saying that he "earned the right to be in closing lineups" despite most metrics arguing otherwise. During his exit interview with the media Monday, Westbrook claimed that he "was never given a fair chance to be who I needed to be to help this team."
