Follow the action as Pep Guardiola's men take on Jurgen Klopp's in this top of the table clash at the Eithad Stadium.

Of the previous 49 games, Liverpool have won 20 and Man City 11. Over the past four years it has grown and now it has become a really big thing. It is just another game for me and I just want to express myself. Pep Guardiola’s City were 14 points clear at the top of the table in January but a run of 10 consecutive victories for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has seen them cut that gap to just one point ahead of this afternoon’s clash. If there’s a winner, they will likely be the favourites going forward. The team news is going to drop in around 15 minutes time.

Played for both Manchester City and Liverpool: Raheem Sterling ... (Sporting News)

Liverpool and Manchester City are set to renew their fierce rivalry once again, but which players have featured for both clubs?

He did feature recently in the UEFA Champions League against Sporting Lisbon, but only for 17 minutes with City already five goals up on aggregate. His career took off when Pep Guardiola took over that season, as he elevated his game from a tricky, inconsistent winger to one of the most dangerous and unique goal scorers in the league. He's won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five EFL Cups. However, he's only scored twice against his former club, as he is usually a victim of extensive booing from the Liverpool faithful. Having featured 95 times in three years, he bagged 18 goals as part of the side that so nearly clinched the Premier League title. His partnership with Luis Suarez was breathtaking, as he managed 24 goals in all competitions with Liverpool narrowly missing out on the Premier League title. Separated by a single point in the Premier League, the two sides meet on April 10 in an unmissable showdown that will go a long way toward deciding the fate of the league title.

City v Liverpool: Walker returns as Guardiola makes three changes (Manchester City FC)

Pep Guardiola has made three changes for Manchester City's top of the table clash with Liverpool.

- Liverpool have won each of their past 10 league games, keeping eight clean sheets in the process. - PhilFodenhas scored in each of his past three appearances against Liverpool - the only player to net in four successive top-flight games against the Reds is Jamie Vardy, who did so in five consecutive fixtures between 2016 and 2017. - RiyadMahrezis aiming to become the third City player to score in six consecutive Premier League home games, after Uwe Rosler in 1994 and Alvaro Negredo in 2013. - The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in any of their past 11 league matches at Etihad. - City have lost just one of our last 12 Premier League home games against Liverpool (W7 D4), going down 4-1 in Jürgen Klopp’s first visit to the Etihad in the competition in November 2015. Guardiola admitted he expects his side will have to defend in spells against a side boasting an incredible amount of firepower, so the return of one of his most trusted lieutenants in Walker is a welcome boost.

Sadio Mane's second-half strike promises an end to the season that could be as breathless and brilliant as this 90 minutes at the Etihad.

Golden chance in the third minute of additional time could have won it 6/10 In truth, it was a brief interlude of Liverpool success into a first half that showcased exactly why Guardiola’s side have set the running in the title race. Subbed off on 75 minutes 6/10 When it arrived, City’s second goal was the kind of moment in which De Bruyne makes things look devastatingly simple. Within the first five minutes City had found a series of angles that hauled Liverpool way out of their comfort zone. De Bruyne is no stranger to providing sorcery on the biggest of occasions but this time his magical left foot was aided by an almighty deflection off Joel Matip that deceived Alisson. The four goals were excellent but it was the speed of thought of the protagonists on either side that impressed the most. Andy Robertson found space and Trent Alexander-Arnold with a wonderful cross which invited Diogo Jota to sweep past Ederson. How else to evaluate the situation after a game laced with as much danger for the respective defences as this one? If Erik ten Hag was watching on in Amsterdam, he might be thinking twice about signing the contract Manchester United have prepared for him. And for the second time in three seasons, you could see both of these blue riband contenders winning every single one of their remaining league matches. We have to be nearly perfect to beat this team in a game and over a season as well,” Klopp said.

Manchester City Ties Liverpool, Defending Its Turf and Its Lead (The New York Times)

In a Premier League season of the finest margins, four goals add to the drama but don't change the title math for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

The ball looped down, over the bar rather than under it, and the chance to win here, to stretch clear of Liverpool in the table, was gone. Manchester City, which now has seven games to play in the Premier League, has one point more than Liverpool, just as it had at the start of the day. This game had the air, from the outside, of the moment on which all of that would stand or fall. The greater satisfaction, perhaps, was in the process, the compelling ebb and flow of two finely balanced forces, a high-speed, high-caliber call and response. It is not every day that he finds a team willing to stand up to him, or capable of doing it. The goals, of course: four of them evenly shared in a 2-2 tie, each of them brilliantly conceived and surgically executed. Half an hour or so later, after all, the final whistle had blown on the 2-2 draw and everything remained as it was. And the chances, too, the majority of them falling to City, all spun out of golden thread. This game had been pinpointed, months ago, as the one that would decide the Premier League title. The meeting of indisputably the best and second-best teams in England — order yet to be determined — and most likely the best and second-best teams on the planet, had produced an abundance of things to enjoy. He was, as he always is, somewhere between animated and agitated, but there was a broad grin on his face, genuine affection in his gestures. Ordinarily, in these circumstances, the conventions of rivalry dictate that the two adversaries must studiously ignore each other’s presence.

City stay top after thrilling draw with Liverpool (Manchester City FC)

Manchester City remain in pole position in the Premier League after a thrilling top of the table clash with Liverpool ended in a 2-2 draw.

I said to the team after the game, how good they have done, how proud we are. Win our final seven games and we will be champions for the fourth time in five seasons. "It was a fantastic game from both sides. I think it was a good game for fans around the world. It was De Bruyne who led the charge in the first half, when he was denied a second goal by the frame of the goal and he continued to dictate our attack after the break when he survived a series of robust challenges. That can happen." I am so happy with how we played. We could not win but it’s football. And, though it was City who had the better of the chances, the visitors were on top for a spell in the second half of a contest which reinforced the fine margins that exist between these two sides. Guardiola’s side had the ball in the net for a third time when Sterling raced clear of the Liverpool defence and slotted under Alisson, only for VAR to intervene for an offside in the build-up. It galvanised Jurgen Klopp’s men and Salah was again the provider as Jota forced the Brazilian into a save with an outside of the boot effort from the edge of the area, but for all it the second half was a more even affair, it was City who looked more dangerous in the closing stages. Liverpool had struggled to keep pace with City but came roaring out of the blocks after the break and stunned the hosts with an equaliser a minute into the second period.

Trent Alexander-Arnold paradox gives Klopp's Liverpool their meaning (The Guardian)

The obsession with Alexander-Arnold's defensive flaws obscures his purpose in a team otherwise defined by systems.

That looseness is written into his game, not just the freedom, but the obligation to act as a playmaker, a roving brain, a note of creative imagination. Close to the pitch you could hear the clips and thuds and pings, like the comforting rat-a-tat of an electric sewing machine stitching the game, the day into place. Better, perhaps, to imagine a Liverpool team where the right‑back sits, covers and blocks up the space. The internet says Alexander‑Arnold can’t defend – and not just that he can’t defend, that his defending is a kind of outrage, a societal toxin. The truth is not just in the middle, but a great deal more interesting. One of these was Alexander-Arnold himself, loping back in that dogged style, with the air even at top speed of a man trotting along the beach with a surf board under one arm.

Missed Opportunities Define Thrilling Draw for Man City As ... (Sports Illustrated)

After a highlight-filled duel at the Etihad, the defending Premier League champions still have the advantage with seven games left—however slight it may be.

In 2018–19, City held off the challenge of Liverpool by winning its final 14 league games of the season. But those failures to take chances do mean that there are times when it does not win games it has had the better of, and that can be costly. But City probably still had the better of them, Riyad Mahrez clipping the outside of the post with a late free kick and then squandering an even later one-on-one chance. But City continued its assault and on balance of play could easily have regained the lead before Gabriel Jesus turned in a João Cancelo cross after a corner had been half-cleared. In that sense it was job done for City: It has resisted the immediate threat of losing the lead and will wrap up a fourth title in five years, if it wins from here on in. Add that to the back-and-forth nature of its play and the result was a first half like this one.

That is preposterous. After results that have not quite gone his way, Guardiola often blames issues in the two boxes – a lapse of concentration from a defender, a goalkeeping error, a moment of brilliance from an opponent at one end; a failure to take chances at the other. Only four teams in league history have ever got more than that – Liverpool and City twice each in the past four years. Pep Guardiola said he didn’t want a “second of sadness” from his Manchester City side after Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool, but he also acknowledged his side had “missed an opportunity” to take a four-point lead in the title race.

Manchester City-Liverpool : la doublette Salah-Mané a frappé ... (Afrik-Foot)

How British Newspapers Reacted To Manchester City Vs Liverpool (Sports Illustrated)

Manchester City's 2-2 draw with Premier League title rivals Liverpool dominated the back pages of newspapers in the British press on Monday.

"It's nice to say I was watching that game. It will be difficult - but for them too, they have to win all the games. If we draw, we will not be champions.

"I always try to imitate the best teams." A thrilling draw was a just result for two teams that have not only been almost inseparable this season, but over the last four. It's hard to say which team will leave Sunday's game the happier with the 2-2 draw. Even as the clock ticked deeper into injury time, the Belgian international was always the first City player hunting down the ball when Liverpool had possession. De Bruyne in particular was a phenomenon. The Brazilians on both sides -- Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson with Liverpool and Jesus and Ederson with City -- exchanged pleasantries in the center circle, as De Bruyne seemingly received plaudits from a number of players in red.

Liverpool and Manchester City run-in predictions: Projecting all the ... (Sporting News)

Manchester City and Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw on April 10, but who has the title advantage? Both teams have seven Premier League games to ...

Liverpool won 10 in a row heading into Sunday and City have lost once in the Premier League since October. They are a cut above the competition. But, in truth, the boldest predictions in there are the games where we suggest City and Liverpool will drop points. Gerrard and Coutinho, who were denied in heartbreaking fashion when City pipped Liverpool in 2014, might be able to provide a final twist. Okay, in a manner neither of these formidable teams are likely to, we’ve bottled it a bit. All City’s league games against David Moyes’s side have been tight and tough over the past two seasons and the Hammers ended their League Cup reign on penalties last October. They are in a small Premier League minority who seem to relish facing Guardiola’s side, but a season petering out into midtable might temper their appetite for a scrap. A week after hosting Liverpool, Newcastle will continue to have their say in the title race. This could really be a huge weekend in the title race. Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool started a December wobble for Klopp’s side, and Spurs then won a chaotic encounter at the Etihad Stadium in February. Klopp’s only win over Conte came in the first of their five meetings back in September 2016. The Times reported that Guardiola extensively studied footage of Southampton against Liverpool to prepare for Sunday’s encounter, so it’s fair to assume Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have ways to hurt Klopp and his players. In the 2018-19 knife-edge battle between City and Liverpool, Klopp’s side played out a thriller at St James’ Park and prevailed 3-2 on the season’s penultimate weekend. Three days after playing City again at Wembley, this would look like a huge red flag in Liverpool’s run-in.
