The Jets have a big sell-job on their hands this coming offseason after an extremely disappointing year. Simple doesn’t mean bland or uncreative. Simple and very efficient, the words used by Lowry, couldn’t have been more fitting. Over seven games now, Samberg’s are positive in both shot share and expected goals. But against the NHL’s best team on Friday night in Winnipeg, Samberg showed once again why nothing’s changed in the above assertion. And the impact came on the blindside. I hesitate to overlook some of the challenges of Scheifele’s year. It seems clear that Scheifele hasn’t bought into Lowry’s system. He’s a point-per-game player for a seventh straight year.
