Not everyone can say that what they do for a living is also how they would spend their spare time. NEW After just six days on the market, a Toronto row house sold for more than $500,000 above its listing price. 1 hr ago 1 hr ago Moore evened it at 1-all 2:29 into the second on a short-handed goal. At 3:17 of the first period, he had a snap shot from just inside the left faceoff circle that beat Quick on his short side. We skated right by arguably the best player in the world, and he was going 100 miles an hour, so that doesn’t help us," coach Todd McLellan said. Viktor Arvidsson also scored, and Jonathan Quick made 27 saves. Edmonton would currently have home ice advantage, but that is the furthest thing from Woodcroft's mind. “I can just tell you that all the offensive numbers that you see in there, they’re stunning," coach Jay Woodcroft said. McDavid, who also had an assist, remained the league's top scorer with 109 points.

If the season were to end today, the Kings and Oilers would meet in a first-round playoff series, with Edmonton holding home ice for a potential Game 7. They put in the necessary work in to execute, and they have a lot of pride. He’s put the work in in practice. First of all, an awful line change on our behalf; we skated right by arguably the best player in the world when he was going 100 miles an hour,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said. The Kings, who have lost two straight and four of their last six, have nine games remaining and Edmonton has 10. Certainly put the work in games. The Oilers have been on an absolute roll here as of late. “You got back to six games, but I look at this road trip, we gave up four goals in three games…. and two of them were even-strength. Their final of five games was capped off last night, when the Oilers beat the LA Kings 3-2. Lastly, Edmonton took down the Kings 5-1 and now 3-2, respectively. Like I said, it’s just good to come out with a win here.”

“And for Mike, he got that feeling because he got the job. “That’s our big focus in the playoffs,” said Bouchard, who collects a $ 212,000 bonus to score his tenth goal. “But he’s also driving us by paying attention to the details of the defenders of things. Playing with Duncan Keith is accelerating the growth of young defensemen. If Smith finds a two-way match, he starts scoring, adds assists, and is just behind Captain Connor McDavid, who was a defensive demon when Kings tried to tie the match. But when he stops the pack and plays better than any other hockey tendy as he does now, he’s really a weapon. So is the Oilers. Then, during the last few minutes of the Oilers taking a 3-2 lead, Smith repeatedly collected Kings’ dump-ins and put a puck on the Oilers’ defensive tape to make it easier to leave the zone and thwart LA attacks. “The numbers don’t lie,” said Evan Bushar, who played the first three-point game of his career. Puck passed through each of the four other skaters from Keith and arrived at Warren Forgere’s tape to score a goal from Derek Ryan’s lovely feed. For the first time in franchise history, we’ll be returning home on Friday morning from a California road trip, sweeping ducks, sharks and kings. They have allowed less than 2 goals in 4 of the last 6 games.

3 Takeaways From Oilers' 3-2 Win Over the Kings (The Hockey Writers)

The Edmonton Oilers took a huge step in securing their postseason positioning with a 3-2 victory over the host Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena on ...

The Oilers face a serious test in their next game when they host the league’s top team, the Colorado Avalanche at Rogers Place on Saturday. Edmonton will be going for a franchise-record 10th straight home win. It was his 10th goal of 2021-22, making him the youngest defenseman to score at least 10 goals for the Oilers in one season since a 22-year-old Paul Coffey had 40 goals in 1983-84. The first tiebreaker is regulation wins, in which Vegas currently leads the Kings by two. For starters, Edmonton hasn’t yet lost sight of the division-leading Calgary Flames, who are six points in front of the Oilers. The Oilers have 10 games remaining on their schedule, while Calgary will play 11 more times. Edmonton is now seven points clear of the Vegas Golden Knights, who have the most points among teams outside of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Loss to Oilers shows Kings must improve before the playoffs (Los Angeles Times)

The Kings would meet the Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs if the NHL standings remain the same. Their loss Thursday indicates they must improve.

And once the Kings picked up the pace in the second period, they were able to do some of what they wanted to do. They couldn’t even get out of their own zone late in the game to attempt a frantic push. And so it’s on to the next one for the Kings, who will open a three-game trip at Minnesota on Sunday. They’ve been better on the road than at home this season, 18-16-4 on home ice and 20-9-6 away. After every game we kind of quickly go through the lineup while there’s a little bit of emotion left in it, and when you describe an individual as just OK, that probably cuts it in November, December, but certainly not in April. And we’re a little bit short tonight with just OK players. Asked what Thursday’s game might mean for a possible Kings-Oilers playoff series, McLellan said he looked at it in tandem with the Kings’ 4-3 shootout loss at Edmonton on March 30. “He’s a great player and he’s fun to play with.” Although the Kings couldn’t contain NHL scoring leader Connor McDavid, who scored his career-best 42nd goal to put the Oilers ahead in the first period and set up the third-period goal by defenseman Evan Bouchard that stood up as the winner, they’re not alone. Phillip Danault knew there was more to his game than being a defensive star and the Kings agreed. The Kings must watch their backs, too, with the Vegas Golden Knights four points behind them but also holding a game in hand. You’ve got to manage a game like that,” said Arvidsson, who used a screen to snap a long shot past goaltender Mike Smith and cut the Oilers’ lead to one goal seven minutes into the third period. Through Thursday’s games, Central Division teams Nashville (86 points) and Dallas (84) held the wild-card spots. The returns from injury of defenseman Matt Roy and forward Brendan Lemieux were heartening for them, too.

Takeaways from LA Kings' 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers (Hockey Royalty)

In what was arguably their biggest game in years, the LA Kings failed to get it done when they hosted the Edmonton Oilers in DTLA on Thursday.

Of the team’s final nine games, seven will be against teams that aren’t currently in a playoff spot. They’ll need to win these games, knowing that they’re the better team. The absence of Drew Doughty and Mikey Anderson from the LA Kings’ blueline is evident. The Oilers extended their Pacific Division lead over the Kings to three points. He made some big saves but didn’t get the defensive support needed for the win. The Kings fell 3-2 and now sit with a 38-25-10 record.

3 Edmonton Oilers Players That Fell Under Expectations This Year (Oil On Whyte)

Connor McDavid getting over 100 points again and tracking down his first 50 goal season. Leon Draisaitl getting his second career 50 goal, 100 point season.

McDavid is leading the NHL in points by 6 over Jonathan Huberdeau. There isn’t much of an augment for it to not be McDavid. It is hard to say either of them is the most valuable because they have each other. This season so far seems to be a successful one as the Edmonton Oilers are currently sitting comfortably in a playoff spot.
