AUGUSTA, Ga. -- South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen, who played with Tiger Woods in the first round of the Masters, withdrew from the tournament on Friday because of an undisclosed injury.

After appearing uncomfortable on several occasions during Thursday's round, Louis Oosthuizen has withdrawn from the Masters.

Since returning to play at this year’s WM Phoenix Open, his best finish in five starts is a tie for 14th. Oosthuizen, the 2010 Champion Golfer of the Year after winning the Open Championship at St. Andrews, grabbed his back after hitting his tee shot on the third hole in Thursday’s first round. Golfweek, however, confirmed with one of his team members that his neck was so stiff this morning he couldn’t swing a club.
