WWE 'WrestleMania 38': Roman Reigns

WrestleMania 38 came to an abrupt end with its main event between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, and there's speculation regarding why.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that Reigns lifted both titles not long after all this and that the wrestler looked fine. At the same time, it seems odd that a scripted injury and not an actual one would lead to the abrupt end of a WrestleMania main event with time to spare. A compilation of photos from Wrestling News pointed out what looked to be some heavy swelling on Roman Reigns’ arm, and something does seem off about the champion’s tricep, though it's hard to tell how much the lights play into it.

Roman Reigns may have suffered an injury on WrestleMania Sunday. The new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion likely tore a muscle.

Reigns won the WWE Universal Title back at Payback in August 2020, defeating Braun Strowman and the former champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat. Reigns held the strap for 580 recognized days in his 2nd reign. This is the first time the company has unified the WWE Universal Title and the WWE Title. Lesnar won the WWE Title back at Elimination Chamber in February, and held the strap for 43 recognized days in his 7th reign. The main event of WrestleMania 38 Night Two saw Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar in a brutal Winner Takes All Title Unification bout.

As Theory and McMahon celebrated, the boss' old rival, Texas hero and professional wrestling icon Stone Cold Steve Austin made his way to the ring. McAfee, as he was celebrating, challenged McMahon to step into the ring. Lesnar, despite the cheap shots, was still able to kick out of Reigns' pin after the referee regained his composure. Lesnar countered a third Superman Punch by taking Reigns to Suplex City and later landed an F-5, however, Reigns kicked out of the ensuing pin attempt. The Beast was in control during the opening moments until Reigns' special counsel Paul Heyman started to distract his former client Lesnar outside the ring. The bout, which was advertised as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time, was a winner takes all unification match.

Whether it's to the core or not you have to you know, like Michael Jordan, I have to like personally motivate myself and grasp on to anything I can to take myself to that main event energy to that main event level to that championship defense mode. His rivalry with Lesnar stretches all the way back to 2015, and while they've shared the ring 11 times Reigns now has a 3-2 record in singles matches against "The Beast."
