WWE Wrestlemania is in its third year of being a two-night event, and the opening night set a high bar for Sunday...
While it initially felt like a foregone conclusion that Austin would emerge victoriously, there was more than enough back-and-forth to keep it interesting. The finish was also strong, as Austin kicked out of Owens' Stunner, dodged a chair shot that ricocheted off the ropes and hit Owens in the face and delivered his own "Stone Cold" Stunner for the in-ring win.The crowd exploded again after the match as Austin celebrated in the ring. It was likely a little bit of both, but the energy during the Rhonda Rousey and Charlotte Flair match was lacking. It wasn't a bad match, as Rousey and Flair traded big blows and submission attempts. By the end, it truly felt like Belair had overcome the odds, and the crowd erupted in ovation. The match of Wrestlemania thus far, this one was a joy to watch from start to finish. Before the match, a video package showcased Seth Rollins' return to Wrestlemania. He was granted a match by Vince McMahon but with the stipulation that his opponent wouldn't be known until Rollins was in the ring. Many fans anticipated that the surprise entrant would be Cody Rhodes following his departure from AEW. Therefore, his "surprise" return after six years wasn't all that shocking. Rousey switched between strikes and attempts to lock in her patented armbar—and Rousey worked a far cleaner match than she has at times in the past. Both women came out looking strong, and it felt the entire time that it could go either way. Booking deserves credit for not taking too much away from Rousey in her defeat. There wasn't a ton of build-up to this match, other than Kevin Owens trash-talking both Steve Austin and the state of Texas. However, the WWE set up enough animosity for it to make sense when Austin accepted Owens' challenge of a no-holds-barred match to cap opening night.Austin was supposed to simply make an appearance on the Kevin Owens Show to follow the Main Event, but when he came to the ring in his wrestling attire (complete with knee braces) fans knew they were in for a treat. This was no technical masterpiece, which wasn't a surprise seeing as how Austin is 57 years old. The finish was the saving grace of this one.The referee was knocked down by Flair's spear and was unaware of her tapping to Rousey's armbar. They also displayed a fine bit of ring psychology by countering each others' moves and showing that they are indeed familiar foes.Rhodes outlasted Rollins, winning with a Bionic Elbow and a third Cross Rhodes. It was a great return for Rhodes, who appears poised for an instant push to the top of the company." WWE WrestleMania 38 Results: Star Ratings for All Matches from Saturday's CardWWE WrestleMania 38 Results: Star Ratings for All Matches from Saturday's CardWWE Wrestlemania is in its third year of being a two-night event, and the opening night set a high bar for Sunday. As is usually the case with a WWE production, the night wasn't all highlights—and fans of the New Day were disappointed as their match with Sheamus and Ridge Holland was pushed to Sunday. It was an entertaining night overall, though, with its fair share of twists and turns throughout. As opening nights go, the WWE could have done far, far worse.Below, you'll find a look at all seven of Saturday's matches, with star ratings for each—based on factors lie in-ring performances, storytelling, crowd response and overall impact. This probably won't be the last we see of him in the ring. The highlight of Saturday came midway through the card, as Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair put on an absolute clinic. The crowd was into this one quickly, as both women were given spectacular entrances—Lynch getting a Marvel-inspired video package and Belair coming with the Texas Southern University marching band. The action got off to a fast start too, with Lynch looking to put Belair away early with a flurry of offense. Nakamura and the Usos were able to salvage the match, but Boogs' unfortunate injury left this one underwhelming. This felt like the culmination of a lengthy feud between Drew McIntyre and Happy Corbin, who was accompanied to the ring by Madcap Moss. While fans have seen several matches between these two, Corbin has done a tremendous job of painting himself as an unlikable heel, which kept the crowd invested here. The match itself was fairly run-of-the-mill, with McIntyre and Corbin trading big moves and momentum swings. The match sagged a bit in the middle, but it featured a strong finish. How the match was supposed to end is unknown, but it feels unlikely that Nakamura and Boogs were meant to go over.

It was either going to be a cluster of massive proportions that embarrassed everyone involved or it was going to be a total blast; a spectacle from a consummate showman in Knoxville and one of WWE's most underrated performers in Zayn.It was the latter and both performers deserve props for crafting a match that kept the fans invested and entertained throughout. Kingston and Woods' tribute to Big E by wearing gear inspired by his WWE Championship win was very cool.Sheamus carrying Butch away from the action, preventing his involvement and a disqualification, helped put over the tenacity of the newcomer.Pat McAfee showed up and showed out Sunday night, as expected, and defeated Austin Theory in a match the Dallas fans were red-hot for.Raw athleticism from McAfee, and solid heel work from Theory, combined to make for a fun match that likely exceeded expectations. Sheamus and Ridge HollandThe match between New Day and the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland was deemed expendable on Saturday so it was never really expected to be a memorable match. And it was not.The sprint of a match was more spots than anything, culminating with Holland pinning Xavier Woods following Northern Grit. Why WWE continuously feels the need to put Sheamus and Holland over is a question only it can answer but, with the tribute to Big E via his fear, this felt like the opportune time to give Kingston and Woods the nod. Stone Cold" Steve Austin made the save, delivered the ugliest Stone Cold Stunner of all time to McMahon and added another to McAfee before standing tall.McAfee joining commentary as he beat down Theory was a great moment and a callback to something The Rock used to do at the height of the Attitude Era.The former NFL punter leaping to the top rope and delivering a superplex was a fantastic spot.Theory selling the Stone Cold Stunner was right out of The Rock's playbook and it was superb.McAfee, still smarting after the stunner, was caught enjoying a beer in a fun spot. Given the lack of depth in the tag division, it is likely for the best that Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins stay fan favorites. This was a fantastic way to kick off the show and set the bar for the rest of the broadcast.Triple H kicked off the show, making his way to the ring and leaving behind his boots, the symbolic sign that his in-ring career has come to an end. Theory's ego proved costly as he tried for A-Town Down, only for McAfee to roll him up and grab a handful of tights for the win. This was not an instance like earlier in the night, where Sami Zayn was absolutely instrumental in the overall success of his match with Johnny Knoxville. McAfee held his own, performed up to the moment and absolutely should be allowed back in the ring whenever the opportunity presents itself. The post-match, which saw an impromptu match between McAfee and Mr. McMahon, threatened to undo everything accomplished by the first match. McAfee exclaimed about Pontius.Wee-Man's appearance popped the crowd and his bodyslam of Zayn was a highlight.Sasha Banks and Naomi, Natalya and Shayna Baszler, and Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley challenged Queen Zelina and Carmella for the Women's Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match.A spotty match with almost too much going on for its own good saw Banks and Naomi use tandem offense to score the pinfall on Carmella and the titles. The effort was there and all eight women were highlighted well, but with so many competitors looking to get their stuff in, the match consisted more of spots and flashy sequences than any easily trackable narrative. One of the two babyface teams had to win here and, given the fact that Banks had competed at six WrestleManias without a win, this was as good a time as any to right that wrong. A lengthy contest that started slow but built to its false finishes and high spots, it saw Edge score the win after a momentary distraction from Damian Priest. The former United States champion popped up at ringside, momentary preventing Styles from delivering the Phenomenal Forearm. Edge capitalized, delivering a spear that earned the Hall of Famer the win.Was the contest the Match of the Year candidate that many expected it to be? With two world titles and bragging rights on the line, the most heated rivalry in the company came to a head in the show-closing contest of Sunday's action at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.Who emerged with the gold and what went down on the rest of the card when Superstars settled grudges and tag titles were decided?Find out now with this recap of Night 2 of The Showcase of the Immortals. Winner Takes All match for WWE and Universal Championships: Brock Lesnar vs. He succeeded, delivering a massive verticle suplex to the former tag team champion and following with two spears for the pinfall victory. The match was mercifully short and Omos was not asked to do too much. Sheamus and Ridge Holland (with Butch)The night's opening match saw RK-Bro's Randy Orton and Riddle successfully retain their Raw Tag Team Championship in a Triple Threat Match over The Street Profits and Alpha Academy.A high-energy three-way match that featured one member from each team in the ring at the same time, it was the perfect option to kick off the show. The crowd was into it, the competitors were amped up and the Orton hot tag sparked a phenomenal finishing sequence that concluded with The Viper catching Chad Gable with an RKO mid-flight for the win.The Profits showed respect to the victors post-match, suggesting the teased heel turn we saw the last few weeks will not move forward. The WWE and Universal Championships were on the line in a Winner Takes All match that would shape the future of Raw and SmackDown for the foreseeable future.

Former WWE star Triple H opened the show with the traditional "Welcome ... to WrestleMania!" growling holler, but his surprise appearance to open the Night 2 was more poignant than that. Riddle returned from the outside, jumped up the turnbuckle and delivered a top-rope RKO on Ford, who bounced out of the ring after impact. With Riddle down after the maneuver, Chad Gable of Alpha Academy climbed the ropes to finish Riddle off only to get caught by Orton mid-flight for an RKO. Orton pinned Gable to end the match and keep the titles with RK-Bro. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will take center stage in the main event in a match to determine the undisputed WWE champion. Riddle and Orton pulled off a synchronized ropes-assisted DDT. The Profits pulled off a sky-high Blockbuster on Gable. But my favorite "wrestling logic" spot in the match was when Dawkins had Riddle pinned and Otis broke up the pin by body splashing onto Dawkins' back. chanting frenzy, as a wild no-DQ, no-countout match reached an incredible crescendo.
Knoxville had some help from his 'Jackass' co-stars and a human-sized mouse trap to get the win.
As pure spectacle, the match was a complete success after a months-long build that saw Zayn crash the "Jackass Forever" premiere and Knoxville releasing Zayn's phone number. Zayn would be placed in the trap and, after a moment of trouble springing the trap, the contraption was used to capture Zayn and set him up for the pin. There were plenty of questions about how Johnny Knoxville's WrestleMania 38 match with Sami Zayn would play out.
Roman Reigns decisively defeats Brock Lesnar, and Vince McMahon wrestles an impromptu match.
Grabbing a microphone, he said he wanted to thank the crowd and welcomed them to WrestleMania. From there it was all teams hitting huge tandem offense on each other, including a crazy Blockbuster from the Street Profits. Orton tried to RKO Dawkins, but Dawkins pushed him off into the ropes and then planted Orton with a spinebuster. Austin hit a huge Stunner on Austin Theory, and it was just McMahon and Austin in the ring. Edge's entrance was awesome, rising to the stage in a throne with flames engulfing the background. The New Day hit a nice flurry of offense on Ridge Holland, then Xavier blasted Sheamus to the outside. Theory tried to do a Superplex, but in an impressive athletic display McAfee backflipped off the top rope and landed on his feet. McMahon then hit a few weak clotheslines on McMahon and threw him into the turnbuckle. After Theory got some heat on McAfee, McAfee bumped Theory to the outside, strapped on the announcer's headphones and did some commentating as he beat Theory about. It's hard to say this wasn't a disappointment, literally billed as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time but it was far from even being the best match between Reigns and Lesnar. Now that Reigns has beaten Lesnar clean in the middle of the ring, the question is what's next? With the ref down, Reigns hit Lesnar with a low blow and then got the title from Heyman and smashed Lesnar with it, a callback to their finish at Crown Jewel last year. Reigns Speared Lesnar from the back -- which actually looked like a botch -- then hit him with another Spear, but Lesnar countered it into a Kimura Lock. Reigns did a great job selling it. The big surprise from the show was an impromptu wrestling match pitting Vince McMahon against Pat McAfee. It was grim, but lead to a great segment involving Stone Cold Steve Austin doing his thing.
Reigns bested Brock Lesnar in the main event on Sunday night for his first win over the now former champion at WrestleMania.
Reigns hit Lesnar with a low blow and Heyman gave him the universal championship, which Reigns used to hit Lesnar and score a two count. McAfee hit one of his trademark spots, landing on his feet on a backflip off the top rope before leaping back to the top rope and hitting Theory with a superplex. Lesnar went for another F-5 only for Reigns to slide out, shoving Lesnar into the ropes and allowing Reigns to hit one final spear for the finish. The finish was pretty sudden and the match was a bit lacking in the overall drama compared to previous Reigns and Lesnar contests. After the match, McAfee taunted McMahon, leading McMahon to take off his jacket and his shirt, striping to a tanktop and bringing a referee to the ring. Lashley then hit a spear to the back and another spear from the front to score the pin. Austin Theory: McAfee got off to a hot start with spinning elbows and ranas to keep Theory on the defensive. Edge: Edge took a smug approach to the start of the match, disrespecting Styles before Styles hit a dropkick and several arm drags to get off to a hot start. Zayn used a baking sheet and a crutch to hit Knoxville across the back before pulling out a table from under the ring. Riddle took out Ford with a springboard RKO as Ford was on the top rope and Orton hit Gable with an RKO of his own as Gable came off the top rope, scoring the win. Styles drove Edge into the ring apron with a superplex, nearly resulting in a double count out but Styles hit a springboard 450 when Edge got back in the ring, resulting in a near fall. In the main event, WWE champion Brock Lesnar clashed with Roman Reigns in a bout to unify WWE's top two championships.
WWE WrestleMania 38, Night 2 featured a Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar in a winner-take-all main event for the WWE and Universal Championships.
The only thing that could have made up for this was Stone Cold Steve Austin, and that’s exactly what AT&T stadium got. Bobby Lashley had to play the flight-of-foot babyface in this matche, which is a rarity. Roman Reigns won this match almost out of nowhere. There were "This is Awesome" chants one match into the show. He received an awesome entrance with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes. Of course, this match featured Corey Graves reaction shots as he coached from his seat. After Zayn took care of a half-naked Party Boy, Pat McAfee exclaimed “those cheeks were just starting to get over!” Sami Zayn was a strong candidate to steal the show. This was already an awesome WrestleMania moment before anything happened as fans showered Triple H with a rousing ovation. The Street Profits vs. WWE WrestleMania 38, Night 2 featured a Roman Reigns vs. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan vs.
WWE Wrestlemania 38 continues here with Night 2. Here are the winners and losers.
Here was another celebrity match; however, this time around, McAfee has already had a WWE match and is already a part of the company. The match was entertaining and McAfee showed some good skills in the ring. This one can go either way, and honestly, that's what makes the build to this so exciting, compared to some of Lesnar's previous title defenses. Chris: This is exactly the kind of match we all want between these two, just a goofy "hardcore" match with a bunch of weapons and silly spots. Yeah, sure, there's a lot of Brood and Undertaker there, but Edge is evolving, and it was one of the best entrances of Wrestlemania 38. Giving Sasha and Naomi the win is the best of the possible choices, I think. Even still, a match against Omos isn't exactly what any of us wanted for him during this Wrestlemania. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Omos is still too green to work well enough for a spotlight singles match at Wrestlemania. WWE has a lack of giants on the roster at the moment but this isn't the solution. This is a very memorable match for Mania--in a sea of some great matches so far, for the most part. This was a nice comedown match after the ridiculousness of the Knoxville/Zayn match as well. This was a fun opener that got the crowd excited for what's going to be a pretty jam-packed night, though it remains to be seen who else could step up to challenge them at this point. There's always a level of chaos involved when the matches get more populated than a standard tag match, and this one was no exception. He was there to kick off the show and left his boots in the ring, a symbolic gesture for many wrestlers when they retire from competition.
While the match had a big fight feel, it came off flat as Reigns pinned Lesnar in an anti-climatic finish to merge the WWE and Universal Heavyweight titles and ...
Reigns delivered a low blow and hit Lesnar with a title belt. The punches were stiff, and the moves were crisp. Lesnar was a hard-hitting affair, with each guy bringing out the heavy artillery.
This match incorporated elements from prior WrestleMania matches, particularly WrestleMania 31. Similar to the 2015 event from San Jose, Lesnar's gloves were ...
My guess, is that happens by SummerSlam. In the immediate future, however, Bobby Lashley is Reigns’ most-likely opponent following Lashley’s win over Omos. During the WrestleMania main event, Corey Graves referenced Bobby Lashley after Reigns delivered a Spear to Lesnar. Lesnar was the last person who needed a win of this magnitude. Reigns has been built up as an O. P. champion, running through the likes of Edge, Bryan Danielson, Goldberg and John Cena. Lesnar feels like the next logical step in WWE’s quest to cement Reigns as an all-time great, if that hasn’t happened already. Between Heyman, a newly minted “ponytail” Brock (more on that later), and Reigns connecting as an excellent heel, the idea of Reigns vs. In his latest comeback tour, Brock Lesnar certainly put the “beast” in “hypebeast.” Lesnar’s jovial, more playful disposition made him the perfect foil to the brooding, salty and far more serious Roman Reigns. Though many among WWE’s monolithic fanbase swore they never wanted to see this match again, especially at a WrestleMania, WWE has been building that same match for the past eight months and most are here for it. Reigns pinned Lesnar following multiple spears as the match ended, rather suddenly, as Reigns sold a shoulder injury.
We're over halfway through WrestleMania Sunday and it's been a fun show so far. Edge defeated AJ Styles in a great match, and Sasha Banks and Naomi are the ...

Orton tried to RKO Dawkins, but Dawkins pushed him off into the ropes and then planted Orton with a spinebuster. Theory tried to do a Superplex, but in an impressive athletic display McAfee backflipped off the top rope and landed on his feet. It's hard to say this wasn't a disappointment, literally billed as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time but it was far from even being the best match between Reigns and Lesnar. In fact, this was the shortest of the pair's WrestleMania matches. After Theory got some heat on McAfee, McAfee bumped Theory to the outside, strapped on the announcer's headphones and did some commentating as he beat Theory about. Logan Paul, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Pat McAfee and many others shined during a memorable WrestleMania weekend.
Austin rode the wave of an emotionally charged AT&T Stadium to deliver a stellar performance his final match, for now. Triple H has been far more active in front of the camera as was a positive theme throughout WrestleMania weekend. Stone Cold Steve Austin lived past expectations in his return to the ring at WrestleMania 38. The ultimate utility player, Sami Zayn was incredible as a heel. WWE seems to be finding its groove with the two-night formula, which was initially forced upon the promotion as a response to COVID-19 and the empty-arena era. Fitting like a glove in the pro wrestling environment, Paul overachieved as a heel.
