Game Recap: Winnipeg Jets vs. Los Angeles Kings (Arctic Ice Hockey)

This should just about put the nail in Winnipeg's playoff coffin. The Jets were never truly built for the post-season runs and this game, while exciting here ...

I hope a change of scenery can unearth the version of Scheifele that I know is buried under his bad habits. Winnipeg doesn’t truly seem to believe it can make the playoffs. The Jets just aren’t that great and seem hell-bent on doing things like playing Zach Sanford in the top-6.

Winnipeg Jets fail to capitalize on power-play chances in 3-2 loss to ... (Coast Reporter)

WINNIPEG — The Los Angeles Kings weren't perfect on the road, but coach Todd McLellan liked the results and some lessons learned along the way.

They should be cleared by the time Winnipeg hosts the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. “I thought a couple times we hung him out to dry and, obviously, he made the big stops for us, which was huge.” Down the road could be Monday against Calgary, it could be two weeks from now, it could be next year. “Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg is not an easy place to play for a lot of reasons. We need to go through these moments so that we will be better down the road for that. “We got our chances,” Lowry said.

Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets vs. Los Angeles Kings (Arctic Ice Hockey)

No rosters or anything because I am out this afternoon and tonight.

What is interesting is if the Jets miss the playoffs (likely) and what the longer-term impacts of that could be. The Jets might win this game or the might lose it. This might be the season the Jets need to reset the team properly and put them in a place for long-term success after years of making it and not contending.

Loss to Kings leaves Jets with steep hill to climb for playoffs (Winnipeg Sun)

The good news for the Winnipeg Jets is they'll have a few days to recover and regroup after a pair of losses they could already ill-afford.

Scheifele fanned on a tap-in that would have tied the game 3-3 and Ehlers narrowly missed on a howitzer that would have done the same. Depending on a Dallas Stars team that won’t stop churning out the points these days, the Jets may have to win 12 straight, and even that may not be enough. But this is the hole the Jets dug for themselves. The Kopitar stop proved pivotal, and just over four minutes later, Mark Scheifele found Nikolaj Ehlers streak down the left side to make it 1-1. But the first half played out like a broken record, sinking them once again for the umpteenth time this season. “We have to go on a good heater and then hope we get some help.” The proverbial hill, already at a nearly unclimbable angle, just got even more treacherous.

It’s a real nice blend.” Saturday was another chance for Morgan to put himself on display, with Kyle Connor out of the lineup for a third-straight game after getting caught up in COVID protocol. “We were kind of sitting around trying to figure out which guy or which prospect might be getting moved as a part of the deal,” Morgan said. “When I originally called my mom and dad to tell them I got traded, they immediately picked up the phone and started joking about Montreal and French and my brother got traded there and I pretty quickly cut them off and was like, ‘I got traded, too,'” he said after Saturday’s pre-game skate at Canada Life Centre. Of course, his parents hadn’t heard the news yet. Heck, even on trade deadline day, when brother Justin was dealt from the Colorado Avalanche to the Montreal Canadiens, Morgan had to clue his parents in to the fact that he, too, was on the move.
