Bossy suited up in 752 games throughout his 10 big-league seasons, all spent with the Islanders, finishing with 573 goals and a whopping 1,126 points. Bossy's NHL career, while unfortunately cut short due to injury, will stand as one of the most impressive of all time. In an open letter to the hockey community released at the time, Bossy showed tremendous courage, promising to fight his cancer with everything he's got.

Bossy was also a seminal member of the Islanders dynasty of the 1980s, winning four consecutive Stanley Cups as well as the Calder Trophy, three Lady Byng Awards, eight NHL All-Star first-team selections and Conn Smith. Thoughts and condolences are with the Bossy family after hearing the passing of Mike Bossy. He was the one Islander I did not detest as a kid always a class act. Sadly, Bossyโ€™s NHL career was halted by injury and will be regarded as one of the most impressive of all time.

He spent his entire 10-season NHL career with the team. He also was a three-time Lady Byng Memorial Trophy recipient (1982-83, 1983-84, 1985-86). Bossy won the 1978 Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL rookie of the year, and the 1982 Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs.
