Liverpool take on Watford as Jurgen Klopp's side look to go top of the Premier League. A victory would see Liverpool move two points ahead of Manchester ...

Will Jurgen Klopp's side go top of the table or will Watford spring a surprise? Jurgen Klopp's side ran out 5-0 winners when these sides met at Vicarage Road earlier in the season, but they won't be taking anything for granted as It looks as if Gomez will be at right-back today as Alexander-Arnold is only on the bench. Watford then create a chance themselves, with the ball falling to Sarr, whose effort goes over. Watford have made it difficult for Jurgen Klopp's team at times, but as things stand Liverpool will be going top of the league. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones all start as Liverpool make four changes from their last Premier League game. Liverpool certainly have had things their own way and Kamara is working hard as he looks to stop Salah from making a major impact. Following the subsequent corner Cucho Hernandez requires treatment following a clash of heads. Watford then miss an excellent chance, with Sarr playing in Joao Pedro, who drags his effort wide. It's expected that Salah will be replaced soon, with Sadio Mane poised to enter the fray. 65 mins: Fabinho plays a neat pass in towards Salah, whose effort goes just over. 82 mins: Jurgen Klopp looks a little concerned, with victory still not secure for his side.

Premier League predictions as our experts pick top 6 and ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham are all in with a chance of Champions League qualification - but how will the top six finish?

Arsenal hold all the aces, having climbed to fourth while still having a game in hand, but their record of beating the biggest teams is poor and they still have Chelsea and Manchester United to face, not to mention West Ham. No-one is catching the top three of City, Liverpool and Chelsea. They are streets ahead of the rest in terms of quality. With City and Liverpool occupying the first two places, I fully expect Chelsea to cement third spot and Arsenal to win the race for that coveted fourth Champions League slot. Arsenal still have a wobble in them - and Antonio Conte is capable of driving even an erratic Tottenham team into fourth. They have no distractions, nice fixtures, points in the bag and games in hand. Tottenham should clinch fourth spot, with United, Arsenal and the Hammers taking the Europa League places. Mikel Arteta has done a superb job to get the Gunners to improve on eighth place last season and got a lot of big calls right like offloading Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. They also have a three-point advantage and at least one game in hand on chasing Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham. The likes of Wolves, Villa, Leicester etc have left themselves too much to do and time is running out. And I’m going for West Ham to surprise everyone by nicking fourth place, because they also have a fixture list that can help them ambush the sides above them. And Arsenal look in better shape than Spurs for that fourth spot. It is much tighter for the lesser continental cups with five points splitting Wolves in eighth and Spurs in fifth.

First place in the Premier League will be Liverpool’s if they can avoid defeat at home to relegation-battling Watford in today’s early kick-off.

Ranking Premier League teams by their top three goalscorers (Football365.com)

Football365 - Did we only do this arbitrary feature because of how comically far ahead Liverpool are of everyone else? Yes.

There are only six players with 12 or more goals in the Premier League this season, and three of them are at the same club. If the general trend is for lots of players scoring some goals being more useful than one or two scoring lots of goals, Liverpool make a compelling case for ‘lots of players scoring lots of goals’ and frankly the other teams are foolish not to have tried it. The 45 scored by Salah, Jota and Mane alone is one more than Arsenal in total and at least three more than any side outside the top seven has managed. The £100m man Romelu Lukaku doesn’t even make this top three, while five of top scorer Mount’s goals have come against Norwich and Watford with a couple more against Everton and Leeds. The other was against West Ham, which is fair enough. Languishing in mid-table here but flying in a different feature about teams with the most number of players who have three or more Premier League goals this season. They’ve lost their last four games with just a single goal scored and still have to play six of the top eight in their nine remaining games. Bergwijn’s injury-time nonsense at Leicester gets him the nod for us ahead of January signing Dejan Kulusevski, while the use of “injury-time” and “January signing” both serve to highlight the paucity of Lucas Moura’s Premier League output this season. We fully expect Sterling, Mahrez and De Bruyne to end the season with a perfectly even split of goals. Harry Kane is the only Englishman with more Premier League goals than Toney, and even then just barely. But Wolves’ season has been built on stinginess at the back rather than the free flow of goals at the other end. Clearly now a far better side than they were with relegation worries now but a distant memory, but their sheer dreadfulness for much of the campaign lives on in these numbers. The first misleading entry on the list with Wolves currently eighth in the league and likely to remain there at worst given a 10-point cushion over their nearest pursuers.

Such a record should instil confidence for the visit of the relegation-threatened Hornets on Saturday, but a glance back at the horrors of last season shows how different things were for Liverpool in the world of the mid-day kick off 12 months ago. Jota had given the Reds a second half lead but in the 93rd minute, Albion were awarded a penalty thanks to the intervention of VAR again, with Pascal Gross making no mistake from the spot. READ MORE: Barcelona face carnage behind Mohamed Salah transfer reality as Liverpool move on But as Liverpool prepare to face Watford on Saturday in a 12.30pm kick off at Anfield, I quick look back at similar-timed matches this season shows that, in stark contrast to last season, the Reds have not let an unwanted kick-off time get in the way of a good result. If the rout of Palace in the December gave Kopites a break from the midday blues momentarily then they would return with interest on February 13, when Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City inflicted defeat on Klopp's side at the King Power Stadium. A fine Salah strike gave Liverpool the lead as late as the 67th minute, but it was all downhill from there. The Reds next early kick-off arrived on October 16, with a trip to Vicarage Road. Now under the guidance of Roy Hodgson, Watford will be hoping that there will be no repeat on Saturday of the 5-0 mauling that they were subjected to in the reverse fixture. The Reds notched an emphatic 7-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a 12.30pm kick-off on December 19, but that was as good as things got.

This season, it has scored 34 goals on 39.5 expected and a good chunk of that discrepancy has come at home. The duality with this play exciting me is that United’s attack has played very well at home while Leicester has struggled to defend on the road. Further, it hasn’t held a top-half opponent to fewer than two goals away from home this season. Given it notched 2.3 xG in the reverse fixture against Leeds, expect another strong performance from the Saints. Goals should come quite easily for the Peacocks, especially considering how bad Southampton’s defense has played away from home. As a result, I’m expecting goals in this fixture.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United - English Premier League ... (mlive.com)

Two clubs on opposite ends of the EPL standings meet in the marquee match on Sunday in North London.

(AP Photo/Jon Super)APIn the English Premier League, a good chunk to clubs are trying to move their way up into the top-four with just a couple months left in the season, while another bunch are trying to avoid relegation and stay in the top division. On Sunday, a pair of such teams do battle in North London, as Tottenham Hotspur hosts Newcastle United. After a rather mediocre start to the season, the Spurs are right in the thick of the race for the top-four of the tables, the four spots that qualify clubs for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Coming into the weekend, Tottenham is just three points back of fourth-place Arsenal, and eight behind third-place Chelsea. Tottenham went 3-1 last month, with a 3-2 loss to Manchester United the lone mark on their record, and have won five of their last seven matches.Further down the standings sits Newcastle United. While the Magpies are not quite on the edge of relegation as they might have been earlier this season, their 14th-place standing might be a little too close for comfort for some supporters. Coming into April, they are nine points of Watford, who sit in the first relegation spot in the EPL. Despite going on a nine-match unbeaten streak that carried from January into March. losses in back-to-back contests have made things a little uneasy for Newcastle. The first time these two squads met back in mid-October, Newcastle battled hard, but it was the Spurs who came away victorious in a 3-2 decision at St. James’ Park.Check out the Premier League tables and results here Newcastle United - English Premier League (4/3/22) MichiganChevron that denotes content that can open up. FPL Saturday review: Managers move for Maddison (Fantasy)

In-form Leicester star is among most-bought players as he has 10 matches in final seven Gameweeks.

Four of Brentford’s final seven matches score only two in the FDR, giving their budget-friendly players the chance to reward managers over the run-in. Ivan Toney (£6.7m) has been their top performer in that run, his assist on Saturday taking his tally to 36 points in the last four Gameweeks. Five of their final eight matches score only two in the FDR, with De Bruyne shaping up to be a major player for Fantasy managers in the next few Gameweeks. De Bruyne has now claimed four of his top six scores this season in his last eight appearances, highlighting his form ahead of Man City’s kind run-in. Seven of those matches score only two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), pointing to more success for Maddison. The Leicester City playmaker supplied the assist for Kelechi Iheanacho’s (£7.0m) goal in a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Liverpool go top of Premier League with victory over Watford (The Irish Times)

A 2-0 win at Anfield turned up title race pressure on Manchester City.

Primarily a centre-back who can play on the right, the 24-year-old, who due to the form of a defence which has conceded just seven Premier League goals at home has been limited to only 15 appearances, picked his spot. His stand-in Joe Gomez, making only his second Premier League start of the season, produced a cross of which his England team-mate would have been proud, whipped in to the near post in a space between centre-half and right-back. Only team-mate Mohamed Salah (20) has scored more in the top flight than the Portugal international’s 14, which secured a 10th successive home win for only the ninth time in the club’s history.

The home side set up with a 4-5-1 formation in a bid to frustrate us. It's a busy week - first we'll think about Atletico Madrid and then after that we’ll think about Liverpool." "The goal after five minutes was important but we still had to play 85 more. The pitch was difficult because the grass was so high but we adapted. This is why we’ve fought for the last 10, 11 months. Our second was equally as impressive and Sterling was again the architect. The win means City go back to the top of the Premier League table after a brief period in second. City were playing with a swagger, enjoying long periods of keep-ball. In the 2nd half they pushed more, they went 4-4-2 and they were more aggressive. Burnley were struggling to cope. The west London side needs a positive result at home in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Real Madrid to keep the season - and the narrative - from spiraling out of control. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he was often stuck in a double pivot and unable to showcase his talents. It's a concern, especially with defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger likely to leave in the summer. Not including the 1994-95 campaign when, as a teenager, he made four league appearances, Beckham needed just eight full seasons to procure his 18 tallies. Before watching their team capitulate in the second half, a number of Chelsea supporters protested the Ricketts family's bid to take over the club, citing patriarch Joe Ricketts' history of discriminatory behavior toward Muslims as a nonstarter.
