DeRozan became the sixth Bulls player in franchise history to score at least 50 points in a game, two off his career high, after Zach LaVine last year, Jamal ...

Definitely apologized to the guys and said I was going to give it all I had tonight and I was able to make a couple of shots." LaVine grabbed the game ball to present to DeRozan in the locker room, where there was more water spray. His sources are not known to the Bulls and he has no special access to information beyond the access and privileges that go along with being an NBA accredited member of the media. So Donovan went to Williams. Before the game, Donovan said Lonzo Ball was going back to "ramping up" his recovery from knee surgery after a 10-day hiatus. And perhaps not thinking some, joked DeRozan after hearing that Williams volunteered to media he was late for the Thursday morning shootaround film session. "DeMar is unbelievable," said Donovan. "After the game he says to me. And in the second half our guys fought and got back into the game. Green fumbled the pass, but as it popped into the air LaVine grabbed it and laid in the ball to give DeRozan those chances with George making free throws on intentional fouls. But this George was also mischievously too curious, landing under DeRozan. So three free throws for, amazingly, a chance for the Bulls to win the game with 3.5 seconds left and one of the league's best free throw shooters on the foul line. It turned for the Bulls and DeRozan Thursday only just enough in perhaps stealing a game they trailed throughout, including by 16 points late in the third quarter and by 11 at 107-96 with just under five minutes remaining. "That felt like a bomb went off inside my head," DeRozan said about the missed free throw, which left him with 40 points in regulation. "I sealed him and felt him push on me; to me it was a good (call)."

It's a tossup between Bulls analyst Stacey King and Hornets play-by-play voice Eric Collins as to who brings more energy to the broadcast.

The 33-year-old Batum is French, which opened the door for King to show off his bilingual skills. Thursday night went to King, who went absolutely bonkers after Bulls All-Star DeMar DeRozan drove past Clippers forward Nicolas Batum with ease and finished the play with a vicious dunk. The Bulls went on to win the game in overtime behind 50 points from DeRozan. After missing a free throw with 3.5 seconds left in regulation to give Chicago the lead, DeRozan scored 10 in the bonus period to seal the 135-130 victory.

Patrick Williams Tattled on Himself Last Night and DeMar DeRozan ... (bleachernation.com)

After stringing together by far his best performance of the season, Patrick Williams had a confession.

Not only is it a bit surprising for a player to be this open, but it’s true that sometimes things like this can be better handled behind the scenes. While I commend Williams for sharing part of the reason why he felt eager to step up, the last thing he or the team wants is for it to negatively impact how people perceive him. The fact Williams fessed up in front of reporters after the game felt like a closer look into his character. I had missed some of the film session, so I feel like I had let the guys down, so tonight I wanted to come out here and give it my all. Then, at the same time, you turn into a joke, but you definitely get on him. At this point in the season, we can’t afford to have guys late to shoot around, things like that.

The DeMar DeRozan Story Just Keeps Getting Better (bleachernation.com)

As a whole, the Chicago Bulls finished the game on a 39-23 run en route to an absurdly clutch 135-130 victory. Zach LaVine snatched the game ball as he walked ...

The oath he appears to have made with the clutch gods has officially put him over the 2000-point threshold this season, and it’s only the second time he’s met that mark in his career. Instead, he walked off the floor apologizing, letting his head coach know the game should have never needed an extra 5 minutes. Not only is that the most in the NBA, but it’s 104 more points than the next closest player in two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. His 54.9 percent field goal percentage is the second-highest among players who have scored at least 300 pts this season in the final frame. “I’m like, ‘DeMar, we wouldn’t have been in overtime if it wasn’t for the things you did.’ He was great.” As a whole, the Chicago Bulls finished the game on a 39-23 run en route to an absurdly clutch 135-130 victory. The ball might as well had been through the net before DeRozan left his feet.
