Kia Rookie Ladder: Evan Mobley's injury opens door for a wild finish (NBA.com)

A recent ankle injury to Ladder leader Evan Mobley could give those behind him new life as we review the latest rookie rankings.

Season stats: 8.5 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.3 apg Since last Ladder: 8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.5 apg Last Ladder’s rung: 8 Draft pick: No. 38 overall Season stats: 11.0 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.6 apg Since last Ladder: 22.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 8.3 apg Last Ladder’s rung: 9 Draft pick: No. 9 overall Being able to write Wagner’s name into the starting lineup every night has to be a joy for coach Jamahl Mosley given that every other Magic player has missed or sat more than 10 games so far. Season stats: 15.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.0 apg Since last Ladder: 15.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.8 apg Last Ladder’s rung: 4 Draft pick: No. 8 overall With one game to go, Green was averaging 20.1 points on 48.8% shooting (39.3% on threes). He even has cinched up his pesky plus/minus (a plus-2.5 week). Dunks like this against San Antonio Monday? He’s always had those. The Raptors’ versatile newbie helped them to a 3-0 week, shooting 53.1%, averaging only 1.3 turnovers and posting a plus-6.3 in his 32.3 mpg. For the stats listed with each rookie’s weekly entry, Monday night is the cutoff. That put Mobley out for Wednesday’s game vs. So an unusually close ROY race heads into the home stretch with only one certainty for now: two-thirds of the supporters will be disappointed. Cunningham’s erratic shooting vs. He performed like a veteran almost from his debut on the Cavaliers’ front line, providing a boost beyond expectations for the No. 3 pick in the 2021 Draft. Critics will talk about Mobley’s inability to create offense vs.

Lack of Pistons Success should Help Cade's Case (Detroit Sports Nation)

Ryan and Matt discuss how Cade doing so much with less help than other Rookies should help his case for ROY https://youtu.be/9UfFuZpNq3I Matt Bassin: And.

So now you’re starting to see the Cav’s play like the Pistons, or a lot of the Evan Mobley hype is because of the team’s success, where the Cav’s were in the playoff race in the east, and they still are. And then when he’s not doing so well able to take over, and that’s just not a luxury that, Cade Cunningham has when he did have it, I guess it was Jerami Grant, but now Jerami done for the season. And he’s putting up numbers that are equal to the MVP. And one of the hot young stars in the game and Trae Young. It’s amazing what he has done as a rookie. But those, Cade’s teammates looked at him and really have all season looked at him to be the guy in those clutch moments, which is why he’s, third and MBA in clutch scoring where with Barnes, you have Fred VanVleet, or you have Pascal Siakam, you have guys like that to take the load off and who is going to be looked at as more of a leader on the team and they should be right. He’s got championship-caliber teammates, as well as all-stars and Evan Mobley has got a couple of stars on the team and champions as well. And you put up what he’s doing against the other two big names that we’ve heard all year rookie of the year in Scottie Barnes and Evan Mobley.

Evan Mobley Holds Off Competition in NBA's Rookie Ladder (Yardbarker)

With Evan Mobley sidelined due to injury for at least the next three games, the NBA's Rookie of the Year race has suddenly gotten more interesting.

"Success on the court paves the way for a bigger platform to fulfill our purpose as leaders and I am excited to continue our mission of impacting the lives of our players each season. Bryson DeChambeau (+2500) I saw online somewhere that DeChambeau is +2000 to win the Masters. The fact that he is priced so high in this event against a weaker field is puzzling. He later was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Manning played from 1998-2015, so Lewis was a factor for all but the end of the quarterback’s career. As a coach in the NFL, Arians has many accolades, including a two-time Super Bowl winner as an assistant, Super Bowl LV Champion as a head coach and two AP NFL Coach of the Year Awards (2012, 2014). As a head coach, Arians finishes with an 80-48-1 record in 129 games over eight seasons. Two of those have come in the last two campaigns under head coach Preston Spradlin. The Eagles decided on Wednesday morning to reward Spradlin for his success. From 1998 to 2021, Arians held several coaching roles, including Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach (1998-2000), Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator (2001-2003), Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers coach (2004-2006) and offensive coordinator (2007-2011), and Colts offensive coordinator and interim head coach (2012). In 2013, Arians was hired by the Arizona Cardinals as head coach, a post he would man from 2013 to 2017. Although pundits suspect the injury could drop Williams to a second-round selection in the draft, plenty of teams still appear to be interested in the St. Louis native. First, as a graduate assistant with Virginia Tech (1975-77), then as wide receivers and running backs coach at Mississippi State (1978-1980), a stop at Alabama (1981-82) as a running backs coach before landing his first head-coaching gig at Temple. At Temple, Arians led the Owls as head coach from 1983 to 1988. The Buccaneers are expected to hold a press conference on Thursday to announce Arians stepping down and the hiring of Bowles as head coach. Like SI Thunder on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest Thunder news. According to the report, Arians will take a new job with Tampa Bay as a senior consultant for football. At No. 2 on the ladder, Cunningham is playing his best basketball of the season.

American media backing Raptors' Scottie Barnes for Rookie of the ... (Daily Hive)

Bill Simmons, Brian Windhorst, and Kevin O'Connor have all endorsed Scottie Barnes for NBA Rookie of the year in recent weeks.

“He started one game at centre and another at point guard,” Windhorst said. The way he carries himself is nuts.” Simmons also touched on the fact that Toronto has jumped ahead of Mobley’s Cleveland Cavaliers in the standings, which could play into voters’ minds. “I think I’m gonna pick Barnes, the way this season is going,” Simmons said. Here’s the Rookie of the Year case for Scottie Barnes — still +330 on@FDSportsbookfor some reason. While we don’t have a date for the announcement of the NBA awards, there are just 11 days left in the regular season for Barnes to make a push. “Scottie Barnes is probably the favourite for me,” O’ Connor said. pic.twitter.com/0yAutckHI4 He has all kinds of swagger. “Watching him, the way he’s evolved over the course of this season, and how much he means to Toronto… he’s playing 36 minutes a game! Evan Mobley has been great all season, but he's been outplayed by ... (Deadspin)

They're both great, but Barnes gets to whatever spot he wants on a basketball court.

For now though, Barnes can dip a shoulder into either one of them and send them flying into a summer camp employee outfit. Those two are Mobley and Barnes, but it’s Barnes who has played well enough to make Ontario forget about Kyle. Cade Cunningham has been great as the No. 1 overall pick for the Detroit Pistons, but he missed time early this season and is playing for a losing basketball team, unlike Barnes and Mobley. The Raptors even traded arguably the most important player in the history of their franchise, Kyle Lowry, and the Cavaliers lost 24.3 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting early this season with an injury to Colin Sexton. Yet both teams have managed to stay firmly in the playoff race this season, and much of it has to do with the play of their star rookies. It takes time for many young players, but Barnes has used his bulky frame to his advantage all season. The NBA Rookie of the Year vote has gotten even more complicated.

2022 NBA Rookie of the Year odds: Evan Mobley injury opens door ... (SportsLine)

Cleveland big man Evan Mobley, the No. 3 overall pick out of Southern Cal, was a -550 favorite at Caesars Sportsbook. However, Mobley struggled in a couple of ...

(Note: If the Raptors do finish fifth or sixth, keep in mind that unvaccinated players on their opponent in the first round of the East playoffs would not be able to play in Toronto.) Toronto has had two Rookies of the Year but not since Vince Carter in 1999. Barnes' PER is 16.3 and his win shares 6.0. Barnes is the only rookie who ranks in the top five in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals and minutes and is on pace to become the first rookie since Luka Doncic in 2018-19 to average 15-7-3 in his first season. Barnes, a mini-surprise No. 4 overall pick out of Florida State (most though the Raptors would take Jalen Suggs, who went No. 5 to Orlando), is averaging 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals. If the Raptors finish the season ahead of the Cavaliers it might also swing the Rookie of the Year vote in Barnes' favor. He is down to -275 for ROY, and the door is open for Toronto's Scottie Barnes, who was +450 a week ago but is now +200.
