I would assume that Fowler heads to Triple-A Buffalo out of camp. The Cardinals dumped Fowler in 2021, the final year of that contract, on the Angels and paid $14.75 million of the $16.5 million owed in the deal’s final year.

He has played primarily center field in his career, but his career UZR/150 is -9.2 there, so he isn't a great defensive player. But I guess it is early innings. So that's one way to go, I guess. Springer, Hernandez and Gurriel have all spent time on the injured list in recent years. It is not yet known if an opt-out date or any guarantees are written into his deal with Toronto.
