Canucks acquire defenceman Travis Dermott from Maple Leafs (Sportsnet.ca)

The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenceman Travis Dermott in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

``I don't make emotional decisions after wins and losses and this is just a part of the process of getting younger and also creating some cap space here.'' He added two goals and three assists in 22 playoff contests. Super excited to be a Canuck. ``Over the last couple days, I didn't really know when anything would happen or if it would happen so it's definitely been a bit of a stressful and anxious time the last 48 hours, that's for sure,'' Dermott said. Dermott, 25, has one goal and four assists in 43 games this season. ``Travis Dermott was a guy that obviously we talked about getting a little bit younger here.

A Canucks clearing attempt went awry, with Juho Lammikko digging the puck out from behind the net and sending it to Tyler Myers as he fell in front of the Vancouver net. Anderson stopped the shot but couldn’t contain the rebound and the loose puck momentarily hung in the crease surrounded by ample traffic. Miller put the Canucks on the board 2:31 into the second, picking up a pass from Garland and muscling his way in alone before snapping a shot past Anderson. The shot hit the back bar of the Buffalo net and ricocheted out so quickly that play continued for several moments before the goal was called. The Canucks defenceman couldn’t bounce back up in time to stop Skinner from getting to the loose puck and the Sabres sniper popped a shot in past Demko at the 3:55 mark.

Gameday Preview: Vancouver Canucks vs. Buffalo Sabres (March ... (The Canuck Way)

The Vancouver Canucks will be looking to finish their homestand on a good note, taking on Rasmus Dahlin and the Buffalo Sabres at Rogers Arena on Sunday.

Following the game, video surfaced of an exchange between Boudreau and back-up netminder Jaroslav Halak prior to entering the tunnel. The 26-year-old was once again the team’s best player on Saturday night, stopping a handful of high-danger scoring chances from the Flames during their dominant opening frame. However, the team has been quite disappointing since then, allowing six goals against while only notching two of their own in the past two outings.

You can’t expect to play an easy game at this time of the year.” This time of the year, things get way harder. The Canucks head out on the road after failing to help themselves out in their quest for the playoffs, and will play next against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. The Canucks were given a power play with just under five minutes remaining and a golden opportunity to break the deadlock. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the call, and it stood, which meant the Canucks were assessed a delay of game penalty. Conor Garland got into a skirmish after the whistle and he and Dylan Cozens were given offsetting roughing minors to send this game to four on four action. In the short time they were on the ice, the first unit actually generated a few quality chances, and looked to build on that momentum going into the second. Miller drew a penalty with just 34 seconds remaining in the first, and the Canucks’ power play got their first chance of the game. The Canucks’ penalty killers did a good job of keeping the Sabres at bay and clearing the puck whenever they got the opportunity to do so, and escaped unscathed. For a pairing that has been extremely effective for the Canucks this year, the OEL-Myers pairing has taken a drop recently that has been somewhat staggering. After a busy day right before the Monday Trade Deadline in which the Vancouver Canucks shipped out Travis Hamonic and shipped out his contract and gained Travis Dermott as a result, the team had a game to play! Casey Mittelstadt broke in after a turnover in the Canucks’ end and ripped the puck past Demko. 1-0 Sabres.

Canucks trade Travis Hamonic to Ottawa Senators for third-round pick (The Canuck Way)

The Vancouver Canucks have traded Travis Hamonic to the Ottawa Senators for a 2022 third-round pick. This clears three million dollars in cap space.

He has also missed a chunk of games due to injury. Hamonic first became a Canuck prior to last season after successfully completing a PTO. He signed a one-year contract worth 1.25 million per season. CHEK TV’s Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Senators were looking at Hamonic for quite some time and Sens assistant coach Jack Capuano really wanted him.

Video body-language evidence Saturday suggested that Jarolslav Halak was less than enthusiastic about being told he was going to play the third period. The Pittsburgh Penguins like Boeser and are in go-for-it mode. As for those who have been in the trade-deadline rumour mill, it could be taking a toll. But then you see something like his old-school, two-pad stack late in the second period. After all, workhorse starter Thatcher Demko, who is a creature of habit and doesn’t like anybody messing with his prep rhythm, has been ordered to take practice days off. “It’s a man’s game and you’ve got to grind. “You can’t expect to play an easy game this time of year and wait for chances on the perimeter or wait for power plays. The Canucks then lost an offside challenge on Skinner’s goal to snap a 1-1 draw in the second period. However, the play went the other way but there was good reason for a review of Miller’s effort. Until we figure out how to come out and take control on our home turf, we’re going to have a lot of issues.” We talk about how every team is good and I think they wanted it more than we did today. The Canucks went 2-3-2 on the home stand.

It was a hell of a game from us. "It’s too hard to come back in this league every single game." Because if you do get through it and you have success on it, then you’ve played the best teams in the West already and nothing should scare you.” “We’ve got to take that ‘It’s now or never’ mentality," said head coach Bruce Boudreau. "We know it’s a gauntlet of games the next seven. The journey isn't about to get any easier. And I chose to embrace it. I think it’s will, wanting to play in the playoffs, and wanting to beat your opponent," said the star forward.
