Elden Ring has just released a major patch, 1.03, which contains a host of nerfs, buffs and bug fixes, in addition to some pretty odd things like just…a ...
We also don’t know percentages on the nerfs yet, so it’s possible these things weren’t totally killed off, but we’ll have to see. - Glintstone Cometshard, Comet and Night Comet have had their FP cost decreased and damage increased. - In a rare move, Elden Ring will add more information to your map. - Uplifting Aromatic and Ironjar Aromatic have had their duration increased - Spark Aromatic and Poison Spraymist have had their damage increased. Here’s everything you need to know about Elden Ring’s 1.03 patch notes:
The biggest 'Elden Ring' update is live in the form of patch 1.03. These are the most notable changes you need to be aware of.
One of the most noteworthy changes comes to NPCs in Elden Ring version 1.03. NPCs you’ve already encountered will now appear on the map, making them easier to keep track of. The 1.03 patch has also increased the damage of certain spells such as Gravity Well, Collapsing Stars, and Crystal Barrage. Beyond that, the Glintstone Cometshard, Comet, and Night Comet spells now require less FP to utilize, and have also received damage buffs. You’re still able to utilize the spirit, but it won’t be as overpowered as before. It doesn’t appear like any other aspects of the skill have been nerfed aside from pure damage, so it’s not completely obsolete—just not as good as it once was. Elden Ring just received its biggest update so far, in the form of patch 1.03. This patch includes major nerfs and buffs, along with new quality of life features. Players were using the Mimic Tear as a crutch to take down bosses since it made certain battles substantially easier.
Some of the most impactful changes in Elden Ring's 1.03 update can't be found in the patch notes.
Thankfully, the good people over at the Elden Ring subreddit have managed to compile what seems to be a comprehensive list of FP cost reductions introduced by this latest update. Now that Arcane scaling is fixed, though, it seems that just about every Arcane scaling weapon in the game just got a huge buff. Furthermore, it seems that the Ash of War that shield comes equipped with (Barricade Shield) no longer lasts as long as it used to. This makes the Ash of War noticeably weaker than it was before. As it turns out, pretty much every shield in Elden Ring now has a higher Guard Boost rating than it did before. However, it seems that the bug wasn’t affecting the total damage for those fully-upgraded weapons but was rather causing the previous upgrade levels to be stronger than intended. Unfortunately, there was a bug in the launch version of the game that prevented those weapons from scaling with your Arcane stat properly. Rivers of Blood is clearly the biggest beneficiary that players have found so far, but every Arcane weapon is now worth reconsidering. Many suspected that was the result of a bug, and it turns out that’s true. Limited quantities of Smithing Stones have been added to the inventories of most of the Nomadic Merchants you meet early on, and it’s way easier to acquire Smithing Stones as drops from early enemies. One thing that the patch notes don’t mention, though, is that the Smithing Stones you buy from Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold are now much cheaper. As for the Battle Hammer you previously got for beating that boss…well, it’s not clear what happened to that.
Elden Ring's latest patch changes two abilities — Hoarfrost Stomp and Mimic Tear Ashes — making them deal significantly less damage.
It’s not yet known if the Hoarfrost Stomp nerf is significant enough for speedrunners to find an alternative or what that alternative could be. Distortion2, an Elden Ring speedrunner who beat the game in under 30 minutes, reacted to the news in a tweet. It summons a copy of the player that fights with the player’s own weapon, armor, and spells.
FromSoftware just issued a title update for Elden Ring, and if you've been playing the game or even just watching the speedruns, the patch notes will ...
The Mimic Tear Ash, which is a go-to ash summon for folk who don't want to play fair with the bosses, has had its damage decreased and behavior pattern changed. Still, buffs dominate the changelist. Likewise, the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War—most notably used in Distortion2's Elden Ring speedruns—has had its damage decreased and cast time increased. There are also more summonable NPCs in "multiple situations," while the Mimic's Veil can now mimic a whole lot of new objects. It's hard to know where to start because the changes are numerous, but it looks like some Elden Ring quests widely considered to be broken may have been fixed. Elden Ring patch 1.03 is a massive one, with nerfs, buffs, questline fixes, new NPC summons, and heaps more.
Elden Ring gets a new patch (version 1.03) that adds a brand-new NPC, new NPC quests, better map markers, and various bug fixes and balance changes.
* Fixed a bug that causes incorrect sound effect to play in some situations. * Fixed a bug that prevented the user from warping to sites of grace from the map at the end of the game. On the balance side, Smithing Stones have been made easier to acquire with both an increased drop rate and availability at early-game shops. * Fixed a bug that causes arcane to scale incorrectly for some weapons. * Fixed a bug that causes the player to freeze when riding. The new NPC is called Jar-Bairn. Elden Ring Wiki has some notes on this character already, if you don’t mind the spoilers.
