Moscow: Former Democratic representative and 2020 US presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has responded to recent accusations of being a 'Russian asset.
During a recent appearance on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’, Gabbard responded to the accusations, saying “this is not a matter of disagreement or holding a dissenting view. She reiterated that contrary to what the media is reporting, she never claimed there were bioweapon labs in Ukraine, but that there are “biolabs in Ukraine that have received US support that contain dangerous pathogens”, which, if released, could mean the world would face a “future of pandemics”. Moscow: Former Democratic representative and 2020 US presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has responded to recent accusations of being a ‘Russian asset for ‘promoting Russian propaganda and being ‘paid off by Russian agents after she tried to raise awareness concerning alleged US-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine, RT reported.
Gabbard has come under attack for calling on the Biden administration to take action to destroy the pathogens held in US-sponsored Ukrainian biolabs.
She then challenged the senator from Utah, tweeting, “Senator Romney, please provide evidence that what I said is untrue and treasonous. We have reported that this fabricated, xenophobic and anti-Chinese lie has been thoroughly debunked by multiple studies that have determined through compelling evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 virus spilled over from animals to humans more than once in late 2019. Gabbard was referring to Nuland’s claims that it is Russia that would use chemical weapons in Ukraine. Gabbard’s statement provoked hysterical denunciations from Sen. Mitt Romney (Republican of Utah) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Republican of Illinois). Romney tweeted on Sunday afternoon, “Tulsi Gabbard is parroting false Russian propaganda. Treason is defined in the US Constitution as either levying war against the United States or adhering to its enemies. On Sunday morning, Gabbard posted a video on Twitter with an accompanying text that said, “There are 25+ US-funded biolabs in Ukraine which if breached would release & spread deadly pathogens to US/world. We must take action now to prevent disaster.
The unproven allegations that the U.S. is assisting Ukraine in the creation of new bioweapons were denied by various members of the federal government.
She also said she was skeptical of claims he had used chemical weapons, despite findings from a U.N. group commissioned by the Security Council. Gabbard would go on to stand by that meeting and her comments for years, at one point arguing that "Assad is not the enemy of the United States because Syria does not pose a direct threat to the United States" on MSNBC in 2019. More recently, Gabbard has made frequent appearances on Tucker Carlson's show -- itself accused of being cozy with Kremlin talking points, according to Mother Jones -- to say that Putin's buildup of troops near Ukraine was justified because of the country's pursuit of NATO membership. Two key points that the Pentagon noted in a fact sheet released Friday were that "after Russia launched its unlawful invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health responsibly ordered the safe and secure disposal of samples." He noted that the statement has not been changed by the release of Sunday's video. Task and Purpose reported on another serving Army Reserve officer, who was investigated after making an appearance on the far-right TV network OANN amid a campaign. At the time, she told CNN that "whatever you think about President Assad, the fact is that he is the president of Syria" and that he was vital to securing peace in the country. "It is a legitimate security concern for Russia," Gabbard said in one appearance posted to her TikTok account before accusing the Biden administration of "smearing" those who disagree with the U.S. government position as "traitors." Although she later walked back some of her support for Assad amid a bid for president in the 2020 campaign on the Democratic ticket, her use of Russian talking points led to a major attack against her by fellow candidate Hillary Clinton. Several American media outlets also noted that Gabbard's campaign and debate performance were being elevated by Russian-aligned media and social media users. Gabbard famously met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in 2017 amid a brutal and bloody civil war and shortly after the Battle of Aleppo -- a fight that had many allegations of war crimes, including the use of chemical weapons by Syrian and Russian forces. Maj. Dan Lessard, a unit spokesman, said that "Tulsi Gabbard's comments made in her civilian capacity represent her views and not those of 1st Special Forces Command" in an email to Military.com on Monday -- the same statement he issued last week. Gabbard is a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, serving as a civil affairs officer currently assigned to 1st Special Forces Command. That unit oversees all of the Army's Special Forces -- commonly known as the Green Berets, as well as units that conduct psychological operations, civil affairs and supporting roles. Romney, in a tweet Sunday afternoon, said the video was "parroting Russian propaganda" and that Gabbard's "treasonous lies may well cost lives."
Founder of a nonprofit that aims to improve U.S.-Russian relations was the top individual donor to the Hawaiian Democrat's political action committee.
Donations in support of Gabbard comprise 69% of Tennison’s total political giving, according to records with the Federal Election Commission. Tulsi Aloha reported raising a total of $45,000 in 2021. The crux of Tennison’s political contributions have gone to Gabbard, the former Democratic congresswoman and presidential candidate who’s been a prominent Russian sympathizer. During its 40 years, the center claims to have set up exchanges, helped launch Alcoholics Anonymous in Russia and taught business skills to Russian entrepreneurs.
Gabbard insisted that she had not known who Elena Branson was when her presidential campaign received the $59 payment.
Tulsi also addressed some of the criticism she had received for the bio labs remarks. "I'm concerned about the existence of the 25+ biological labs in that warzone. "I'm not convinced there are biological weapons labs or biological weapons in Ukraine, that's not what I'm concerned about," she wrote. Prosecutors allege that she was involved in a wide-ranging influence and lobbying scheme with money and direction from the Russian government. Branson told the FBI in September 2020 that she had never been asked by Moscow to coordinate meetings with U.S. officials. "[This is] because they continue to get away with it, they continue to parrot and propagate these lies.
Tulsi Gabbard blasted Mitt Romney on Tucker Carlson's show after he called her a traitor for querying US funding given to Ukrainian biolabs now at the mercy ...
I'm concerned about the existence of the 25+ biological labs in that warzone. She repaid the money later after criticism. Romney attacked her despite a Department of Defense official warning last month that the labs could be vulnerable to a Russian attack. 'But because these phrases are so similar, there is sometimes miscommunication and misunderstanding when discussing them. She just said this is a thing. So let me clarify. And so this is exactly what we are seeing here,' she said. That's treason? That's not reasonable now? 'They told us they were destroying them. Russia has accused the U.S. of running bioweapons plants in Ukraine - something that few outside of Russia believe, and which is widely believed to be a myth. Gabbard continued: 'I have said that there are bio labs in Ukraine that have received U.S. support that contain dangerous pathogens that if those labs are breached, then we in the world is facing a potential future of pandemics, that this is a dangerous crisis that needs to be addressed immediate, these pathogens need to be destroyed.
