Designated by the United Nations as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, it is a day to raise awareness of gender inequality and reflect on ...

I repeat this is not the world I want to leave to our children. However, Mr. Speaker if we want a gender equal world, one that is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination, we still have a lot of work to do. This is not the world I want to leave to our children. The Gender Equity Division continues to support Women in Leadership initiatives including the Campaign School for Women, which encourages the participation of women in political leadership and equips them with tools and supports to run for elected office. The time for gender equality is long overdue, Mr. Speaker, but today will have to do. Mr. Speaker, the time for gender equality was yesterday, it was last month, last year, decades and centuries ago. Mr. Speaker, as the Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, I reaffirm this government’s commitment to address the evolving nature of work related to gender, including gendered violence and gender equity. This is not the world I want to leave to our children. So far, the NWT is one of only a few jurisdictions across Canada to develop an MMIWG action plan. Mr. Speaker, today is International Women’s Day. Designated by the United Nations as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, it is a day to raise awareness of gender inequality and reflect on the journeys we have all taken to get here. Mr. Speaker, although the last two years have been a struggle for everyone, they have been particularly challenging for women. Mr. Speaker, as I look around this room, I see courageous, intelligent, and powerful women, sons of mothers and fathers of daughters.

Women in Western countries talk about the difficulties and rewards of having a career in cybersecurity. So do women in developing countries.

Write your own blog, she urged women in IT, to show how much valuable information you can bring to the table. There is now a networking and online advice group for women working in cybersecurity in her country, she noted. What’s important for women, she said, is not the cybersecurity certifications they have, but the value they bring to an employer. “But now there is a demand for technology,” she said. Businesses also need to hire more women, she added. So do women in developing countries.

International Women's Day: Meet 5 extraordinary advocates working ... (Globalnews.ca)

Meet Nataizya Mukwavi and four other amazing women in B.C. who are working to empower women and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community every day.

They will involve men and boys with a focus on “awareness and prevention,” she added. She said she felt the need to “bridge the gap” between a small population of Black people who are dispersed throughout the Lower Mainland. A survivor of domestic violence, Housty-Jones has shared her story with women across the province and beyond. “I think that’s kind of the biggest issue — trying to prove why we’re needed in Vancouver,” she explained. For the past year, w̓úm̓xλaqs, who also goes by Louisa Housty-Jones, said she has focused on wrapping the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community into advocacy for Indigenous women. Social supports and grants are available for organizations like hers, she added, but the application process doesn’t always allow them to shine. We matter.” Next month, Housty-Jones will help host a series of dialogue sessions that make space for women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people to “gain strength and inspire.” She will also continue to pressure all levels of government to implement the national action plan for ending violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ folks. You feel like, ‘Who else would understand what I’m going through?'” “I’ve come a long way from 21 years ago to be where I am today, and be able to speak for other women and help support and build the confidence and guide women in the right direction.” Read about her work and four other amazing advocates below. “If we’re not highlighting the true issues that a lot of women face globally, then we’re kind of doing a disservice and just doing a celebration to celebrate us,” she told Global News ahead of IWD on Tuesday.

And one of Backbone’s goals is that we support this founder.” She said that to fix this issue, exposure to technology needs to start at a young age. There is no specific industry that the company looks for, as each founding partner at Backbone has their own expertise and interests. “To be honest, once we started sort of looking at the numbers ourselves, we were surprised and we were very happy with it because for first time founders, it’s their first time doing this. A report by research firm PitchBook revealed that female founders secured only two per cent of venture capital in the U.S. in 2021. From March 8, 2022, to April 19, 2022, Backbone will be accepting submissions for its first cohort of the year.

International Women's Day (CKBW)

Today is International Women's Day. Officially, it's a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

But like most of us, they made the contributions they needed to make, and left their mark on the world. And they all deserve the recognition. And I can’t have a cup of tea or play a game of cards without thinking of her. And there are still secrets to some of her recipes that some of us have never figured out to this day. Over the years I have also met several women who have made their marks on entertainment and politics and any number of other fields. I’m sure all of us can think of women who meant a lot in our lives.
