Rep. Lauren Boebert responded by saying: “I will not shut up'' about what she called Biden's failure in Afghanistan.

Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted “you lie!” at President Barack Obama during a joint speech to Congress in 2009. The television cameras were focused on Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, when the heckling occurred. The incidents were just the latest breach of decorum for a presidential address, an annual event where unruly behavior by lawmakers has become more frequent. Greene, a Georgia freshman and member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, stood up and began chanting, ‘Build the wall! Build the wall!’ in reference to the border wall former President Donald Trump began building during his administration. Thirteen of them!”

Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) taunted the president as he delivered his State of the Union address, at one point chanting “Build the wall!

Boebert and Greene led a chant of “Build the wall!” — a slogan popular among supporters of Trump — when Biden talked about his plans to tackle immigration. Some in the chamber — including Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — seemed to mock the president as he went on with his speech. I will not ‘shut up’ about Biden’s failure in Afghanistan and the 13 heroes we lost because of it.” I told him directly he did it. By the end of Biden’s address, Boebert tweeted, “When Biden said flag-draped coffins I couldn’t stay silent. I think they should just shut up.”

After some presidential heckling, Lauren Boebert has no regrets (MSNBC)

The day after heckling during the State of the Union address, Lauren Boebert isn't issuing an apology, but she is sending a fundraising appeal.

Thirteen years later, our politics has become so poisoned that Boebert didn’t feel any real pressure to show any contrition, and House Republican leaders were content to ignore the whole matter. Of course there were no apparent efforts from House Republican leaders to admonish their member for heckling a sitting president while he honored fallen American troops. Appearing on a conservative radio program yesterday, the GOP congresswoman said “a lot of people” thanked her for Tuesday night’s outburst. The Democrat specifically expressed concern about American troops’ proximity to burn pits, and the ongoing health risks those pits may have created, before referencing the death of his own son, who served in Iraq. But it really wasn’t that long ago when such behavior was at least somewhat controversial. Of course she sent out a new fundraising solicitation.

In response to the furor, Boebert said For Boebert, the controversy is the thing. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility." Political theatrics in support of, uh, showing how much she hates Biden are not only tolerated by some corners of the Republican Party, but celebrated. "While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. And shortly after the speech, he apologized.

Boebert doubles down on Biden heckle: 'I would absolutely do it again' (The Independent)

Republican Rep Lauren Boebert said she would have heckled President Joe Biden the way she did during his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

“She told me Joe Biden killed her son. Headaches. Numbness. Dizziness,” he said. “When they came home, many of the world’s fittest and best trained warriors were never the same.
